-- NiMh Bargain (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=3322)
I use NiMh batteries for my VDx and am going to use them around the house as well. I wanted to let everybody know about a great deal at Home Depot. I bought an Energizer NiMH/Nicad universal charger with all the bells and whistles for $15.99! It is a new product and charges everything from AAA to D up to 4 at a time! It is a very nice unit indeed! I didn't buy a charger like this since they were all around $50.
I don't have the specifics with me but if anyone is interested, I will post it tomorrow.
I cycled my new NiMh batteries a few times in my smaller cycler/charger before use and after 2 weeks of heavy use, i am still at 83% battery %! Blows doors on Alkalines!

I would be very interested. I only hope that the Home Depots here in Canada would stock them as well.

Too err is human, to moo bovine.
So I can get the charger at home depot....
but where can I get HmHI cells.
Radioshack is probably one store that you can get NiMH batts in both Canada and U.S.
BTW, they also have a bargain on a AA/AAA NiMH/NiCd charger for $35CAD that includes 4 NiMH AA's... so that you can also get ready for Y2K

Best Buy has the chargers and batteries also.
Check out http://www.nimhbattery.com for batteries & chargers.
(not affiliated, just a happy customer)
I get my NiMh batteries from http://www.thomas-distributing.com/ (no connection! But they have done good by me!) $2.35 each for AAA Nexcells.
The charger is at Home Depot and the product is:
"Energizer Accu Rechargeable Universal Charger"
Reorder Number: CHM4FC
SKU: 0 39800 01701 7
$15.99
It charges AAA,AA, C, D, 9v Nicad and NiMh batteries. It is a slow charger (best way to charge) with an auto trickle charge.
It charges 2 or 4 at a time (in groups of 2) or 1 or 2 9V cells at a time.
FYI: Always use and charge your cells as a set. I pair mine up in sets of 2 and mark with set numbers (#1, #2, etc.) when they are new.
