Question

So, what are the odds that somebody will get their Visor by this Friday? If they ship on the 14th (two weeks after Hawkins' two week deadline) and somebody ordered overnight shipping, then somebody should be getting one this week.

as of 10:46 PST, the handspring site shows this:

SITE ERROR
A general fatal error occured.
Please contact your site administrator.

I think they're putting the online store site back up.

80% - Hawkins' deadline was issued on 9/29 so two weeks after would be 10/13. If they're shipping out of the bay area then I should get mine Friday via UPS Ground. Those in central California who ordered Ground (map) and those elsewhere who ordered Next-Day Air should get theirs' on Thursday. Assuming of course they ship on Wednesday 10/13.

Excerpts:
"(09/30/99, 6:57 p.m. ET)...The Visor handheld computer will ship sooner than announced, the company said Wednesday. The new handheld computer...will ship in two weeks, Jeff Hawkins, chairman of...Handspring said"

That sounds about right. Consider this: When HS first put up their online ordering site on 10/6, a little blurb on the first page said that folks that had pre-ordered should be getting an email in the next week. One week from 10/6 is 10/13. Do the math, folks.

I know we're all anxious, kiddies, but RTFS!

Hawkins, as noted above, is not late. It's like folks complaining that the Visor didn't ship 10/1. I don't think anyone ever said a clear date, besides 'October', before Hawkins' offered up the 15th.

The really funny thing is that Hawkins saying the 15th instantly got a 'Visor to Ship Early' headline on another site. Obviously, they interpretted 'October' to mean 10/31
