-- Can I get repeating to-do's in DtBk+ ? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=2280)

Question

I know that I can set DtBk+ to give me repeating appointments. What about repeating to-do's? I'd like to put in things like "Take vitamin-pill" which I can check off when completed as with any other to-do, but which will return each day anew.

If I can't do this in DtBk+, could I do it in the full DtBk3?

Thanks for any suggestions.

I'm not sure about dkbook+. But if it can't, check out ReDo. I haven't tried it myself, just recently saw it though.

You can set repeating floating events, which effectively work like todo's. You cannot set repeating todo's. This applies to both Datebook+ and DateBk3.

Well I just loaded ReDo and checked it out and it is pretty cool and probably does everything you want.

It will create recurring ToDo's based on just about any criteria you can have. And it doesn't create all of the ToDo's immediately; you can have it create the ToDo x number of days before it is due.

I'm not sure it's worth 11.95 for me but I'm sure it is for others. What I currently do in the standard Todo app for recurring items is this: Rather than check off an item that I've completed, I tap the due date and set it to my new criteria. This works just fine for me. It was written by the same guy that wrote the Parens calculator.
Hope this helps.

I have been trying to find out how to repeat "to dos" also, but without luck up until now. I have to take an injection twice a month, and for the life of me I have not found an effective way to remind myself to do it. I am anxious to check out this ReDo, and it will be well worth the money for me if it keeps me from feeling bad before I remember to take the darned shot.
Thanks for the info bregent1!

Question

Thanks for the info.

I'll try the floating event temporarily, but I like checking off "to-do's" and having a record to look back on what I actually accomplished.

Re-Do sounds interesting. I'm assuming I can download it from one of the palm sites. Do you know if it is compatible with DtBk+ and/or DtBk3?

If you set a repeating appointment with no time, then when you've done that 'todo' appointment, click on details and set the 3box selection to 'done' that puts a checkmark next to your appointment.

Cool

Wow . . . great advice. I discovered that I can actually "check-off" either a floating event or an appointment with no time set and STILL get them to repeat daily. Problem solved. This is great!

I bow to the superior visorness of all who responded. Thanks.
