-- Why are MY conduits being copied to my wife's User folder? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=9527)

I just noticed something odd.

My wife and I both sync our visors to my G4. She hasn't done it in a while and I was having some trouble getting the cradle to work with hers (a soft-reset fixed it).

Anyways, one of the things I did was trashed her USER folder in the PALM folder so that it would make another one.

Well, it did, and what was odd is that in her folder are apps that I have installed on mine, but are not on hers.

For instance, it added an Avant Go Connect folder (I have Avant Go on mine) and a Passwords.dat file (the passwords archive from the copy of Password Store that it on MY visor.)

Is that normal? It seems as if it shouldn't be. It doesn't appear to affect anyting, but who knows...

Can anyone else verify if this happens in their two-visor family?

I think that's the way it works

Conduits don't live in the Users folder... they apply to ALL users. What is specific for the user are the conduit settings, which should be adjusted in the HotSync manager for that user -- for example, if she does not use AvantGo, then the AvantGo conduit should be set to "Never" as the default, etc. You should probably double-check the settings for every conduit installed.

I gave up on Hotsyncing my son's Visor to my iBook for similar reasons - the conduits just don't seem to know how to deal properly with more than one user. Some seem to remember different settings for different users and some don't. Quite a pain when all I want to be able to do is install apps and print out some of his school notes. (I'm using the MultiMail and OE conduits along with the standard ones...) The conduits really should be completely separate for different users for things to work as expected.

I had no idea you had to set them up for each user...thanks for the tip.

I have to agree with YBYSAIAH...that is just plain stupid programming, IMO. Why shouldn't each user have a seperate conduit set?
