-- Sync problems on Mac (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=9791)
I'm trying to assist coworker w/Mac running 8.6 - I'm not well versed in the Mac, I can do the basic troubleshooting but need assistance beyond that. The visor acted like it was syncing but no new data was appearing on the desktop. In checking for the conduits none were listed in the Hotsync Mgr.
Re-installed the desktop and attempted to sync no luck. Tried it both ways with conduits set to synchronize and once for handheld to overwrite desktop - still nothing. Loaded the latest versions of desktop still nothing. All the settings appear to be correct, hot sync is enabled, uses usb, the user is the correct name.
When you start the hot sync all appears normal - the messages on the visor screen and desktop say syncing datebook etc. - it seems to go way to fast then says hotsync complete, but again nothing appears on the desktop.
I searched the archives but didn't find anything that seemed relevant. Any suggestions or assistance greatly appreciated.
What is the detailed readout in the Log file? That's the only source for troubleshooting info.
here's the bad news... i was having a problem similar to this and the only answer i came up with was a hard reset... that was ok since i had a backup module, but if your coworker doesn't, i'm sorry.
you might try a soft reset while in the cradle, first though... it often fixes alot of problems. also, try alloting more memory to the serial port manager -- go to your palm folder, click once on the manager icon (make sure it doesn't open) go to the file menu, and get info... go to the memory option and boost the preferred size by 100% or so.
if these don't help, i think you're in for the hard reset option.
