I finally got the flash module and have learned, firsthand, about how it does and doesn't support certain functioning. Currently I've found that my document editing has to all be done on the Visor, not the module, though I can store "read only" versions of my documents there. I've got almost all my games moved over without any problems and it gives Album to Go a lot more "breathing room."

I'm wondering what other programs people can/can't run off the module. Even after having read the threads about it, I was a bit surprised at how many things wouldn't work on it.

What do others use their modules for?

I was hoping to put a lot more onto my 8MB module then I have been able to. It will not let me put dictionaries, many ebooks, etc. I have very little room left on the internal space... any ideas? When I have tried to move other than games, etc., it warns me that I might crash (which I have done, having to do even warm resets). I am very frustrated at this, as I was hoping to be able to ultilize the module much more than I have been able to... any suggestions?

I am using my module for peanut press and their ebooks and it works just great!

For the most part, I store my applications on the Flash module, and my data on the Visor main RAM.

I filled my 8MB Module with:

I am quite satisfied with 8MB Module. Basically, any PalmOS software that is FlashRom compatible is also compatible with Visor's 8MB Module.

I've been able to move the Mapopolis maps into the flash module and it seems to work fine.

BTW, Mapopolis upgraded their viewer (without changing the version number!) so it now remembers the context of maps you are and have viewed, so you don't have to start from the fully zoomed-out view each time.

epocrates (a free guide to prescription drugs) runs off the module if its files are in main memory. Unfortunately, I think the files are the large part of the package.

p.s. I have the nonupdating Mac version.

I get a fatal exception running Noah off the module...do I need something other than the std download?

Have any of you been able to view graphics that are stored on the module? I tried with Tiny Viewer and it crashes very ugly-like...

So far, I've been able to read prc's stored on the module in iSilo, but not in QED.

I have 18 images (maps, all) on the module and I have Tiny Viewer itself on the module. No problems at all. Also, 53 documents on the module, using ISilo Free (in RAM) as the reader; no problems there either.

I get a fatal exception as soon as I hit the icon. I suspect that there is something wrong with the files, since they don't run in main RAM either. There is something in the Noah FAQ that suggests that it's a problem related to the way the distribution gets unzipped on a Mac - I'll check this out and post the results by editing this message.

Update on 6-13-00
The problem is that some unzipping programs convert files to Mac format if they think they are text files (I think this has to do with EOL characters). This led to corruption of the Noah distribution.

I was able to fix this by repeating the expansion of the zip file after changing the preferences in Stuffit expander to Never under the "Convert files to Macintosh format" option of the Cross-Platform prefs.

This is a great example of the usefulness of the VisorCentral community - first, I never would have heard of Noah without you guys, and second, knowing that it worked on your modules gave me the incentive to figure out the problem! Thanks to all.
