-- Innogear possibilities? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=5405)
I understand that representatives from Innogear read these pages so I'd like to ask a question and hopefully get a response from them and comments from the rest of you.
I don't know what Innogear has planned for future 'InnoPak' series modules, however, how difficult would it be to have a 'quasi-custom' module? There are 6 features that Innogear has announced/released thus far:
Vibrating Alarm
Extra memory (2MB or 8MB)
Cell phone modem
Land line modem
Voice recording
LED light/alarm
and i understand that these 6 features will be bundled on the SixPac. Would it be possible for consumers (like myself) to choose which of these 6 we'd like in our module and have us charged accordingly. For example choosing 5 of the 6 would be ridiculous so make the SixPac cheaper than choosing 4 or 5 of the six. But if i only wanted 3 features, then that would be less then the SixPac and worth my while (and yours, of course).
I'd like the voice recorder, the landline modem, and the extra memory. but i don't really have a need for a vibrating alarm or the cell phone connector. and the LED may have to be a standard feature.
I shouldn't get into the whole scenario here, but would this be feasable for Innogear?(not knowing what goes into the manufacturing process...)
Does anybody out there share my request? Do they only need 2 or 3 of the 6 features? Or is this not a popular idea?
Thanks for your time.
I think it's a good idea, for instance, I only would have use for the modems and the memory, so 3/6.
IF InnoGear did that, they would have to charge more for the modularization of everything or for the administrivia that they would have to do for orders. Any retailers would also have a nightmare of a time keeping it all stocked.
I really like the concept of the Innopak, as it allows one to cheaply get extra memory and one other feature.

I wasn't specifically talking about brick & mortar retailers, and I don't know what InnoGear's retail plans are. I was thinking about online retailers, but it could apply to anyone. There would ba all types of combinations that any retailer would have to keep in stock. Do you remember those stories about stores having trouble with carrying all colors of the iMac? It would be a similar situation.

i guess you're right. let's hope future InnoPak modules have 2 or 3 featurs. I'd love to have a voice recorder, 8MB memory and a landline modem in one ICE module.
since innogear hasn't said when the sixpack will be ready or what phones it will cater too. i sent them an email suggesting a serial connection and more memory. haven't heard back from them though.
I'd like to see a version of the 2/V with more memory, maybe 4/V and 8/V?
A $40-50 voice recorder/2mb flash Innopak, while not very sexy, would probably sell like hotcakes.
Why not a standalone cell modem?
