-- Visor Case Pics (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=3382)
I received my new visor case (Wilderness Nubuck)on the 24th via FedEx, though I had ordered only standard shipping. I guess they're trying to make up for old blunders. Anyway, as with the Visors themselves, the pictures on the site don't give an accurate depiction of reality, so here are a few pictures of mine. I like it a lot, by the way, and I recommend them highly. Enjoy!
Here's one of me holding it, so you can get a good perspective on the size of the case.

From the third picture, it looks like the case attaches to the Visor in the same way that the hard cover snaps onto the back of it.
Is this correct?
PDAENVY - yes. That is exactly how they attach. It's as though there were a hard cover sewn into the right half of the case. It feels quite secure.
hey chris,
thanks for posting the pictures. I think I will get one of these for travel. It looks really good too.
A few questions though. Is the visor well protected? Is the visor easy to use in the case? How is the workmanship with this case?
These cases are a little more expensive than some others so I'm really interested in your input.

I must also agree with ChrisB. I have the "slim" version which is available only in black leather, has no stylus holder, and uses velcro instead of a snap. (That's to close the front cover -- the visor itself is held in via the same method.)
The overall craftsmanship is quite pleasing. I won't repeat ChrisB's comments because most of mine are the same. Don't expect these cases to protect against hard impacts since they're designed for mainly casual use. I find the case quite manageable and I only remove the Visor to do a HotSync. I also find that a card or two in the front pocket adds enough rigidity to the cover; mine was somewhat stiff to begin with, but a little added protection doesn't hurt.
Again, I'm pleased.
I have the deluxe case in black and I love it, however the person who posted with concerns about the case putting pressure on the screen has a valid point.
The front flap of the case definitely contacts the screen. More specifically, the "v" of the pocket is what touches the screen. I know because I noticed the smudged outline of the pocket's "v" on my WriteRight after a couple of weeks of use. ChrisB, I noticed from the pictures that you have a WriteRight on your BVD so you'll be seeing the same marks. Unfortunately, stuffing more into the pocket probably applies more pressure yet.
Of course, I don't feel this does any harm whatsoever. The only inconvenience to me is that I am slightly bothered by the mark since I feel that the WriteRight already removes some clarity. If I did not use a WriteRight, I'm not sure the pocket would abrade on the screen enough to make a mark, but I don't think I want to find out.
If there are any members out there who have been using these cases for prolonged periods and have not noticed a mark on their screen from the case's pocket, please let us know. I am actually considering going without the WriteRight since I no longer use the stock stylus and really miss the clarity.
Also, given all the talk about possible cracking in the top cover slot of the Visor, be sure to use care in installing and removing the Visor from the case. This is especially true since the layer of leather between the sewn-in cover and the Visor makes it extra tight. I pry up as much as possible on the top of the sewn-in cover when I take out or put in the Visor.
Rtalain, you're right - I am using a WriteRight, and there definitely is a v-shaped mark on the right side of the screen where the pocket touches it. I can even see where the sewing in the pocket touches the screen. I hope this doesn't turn out to be a problem.
I splurged when i got my VDx, and got the ultrasoft calfskin black leather case. I love it! I really do wish the "Create a case" option was working when i ordered my Visor. I wanted a monogram on my case.
what I am slightly disappointed about the case is that the pocket on the flap opens outward rather than on the inside like a wallet. Althoght i haven't had anything fall out, it would just feel better if the opening was on the inside. and the sharper edge of the top does tend to put an impression on the front flap. Also the front flap does move up and down a bit more than i would like.
As for the protection for the front, If i know it will be in my bag or pocket a long time, I just flip it around in the case.
Other than that, I love my case. I think i tossed the case it came with immediately after opening the box. It's crap and reminded me of those dorky TI calculator cases. And I don't think I know where my plastic cover is.
Now if they could come up with a durable clear Vinyl or Microfiber case (like Prada Bags) I would grab one of those!!!
