-- Go on trip, come back, can't hotsync anymore in W2K (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=10683)
This is really bugging me. I hotsync, never had any troubles before in Windows 2000. Go on a trip for 2 weeks, come back, and the freaking thing says cannot establish connection to desktop.
I tried reinstalling the software, no dice.
This really sucks, I have NO IDEA what's wrong and I'm mad. The Visor works fine, the comp still works, why won't the hotsync work?!?
Help
Try doing a soft reset of your Visor. Sometimes this solves the problem with doing a USB HotSync.
it didn't work!
It didn't work.
I don't understand. I wonder if something went wrong with my Visor while I was gone even though it's working just fine by itself.
Or if the cradle just decided to die on it's own. I guess I'm going to have to test on my stepfather's win9x computer.
I'll write again if it worked on his comp.
Well his comp didn't work due to it being a crappy old Win95 with no USB support.
However! I fixed the hotsync thing on my computer. The cradle is fine, the windows is fine. It was the Visor itself that was at fault. I had to hard-reset the damn thing and twiddle with the palm desktop, but once I established it was working, I then restored all data from the backup module, and was able to resume normal hotsync operations.
So, a backup module is almost mandantory as it will work when the hotsync won't.
I do wonder what the problem was though.
Some work from Handspring
Check out this link at Handspring. The soft reset solved my exactly-the-same problem:

Thanks Bismarck.
I had the same problem with my Visor for the last two weeks. The hard reset solved my problem as well.
