- How To / Troubleshooting (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/forumdisplay.php?forumid=2)
-- DateBook+ and Alarms (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=2282)
I switched to DateBook+ for my address book. I like the alarm functions that come with DB+. However, when I set an appt. and alarm on my desktop and then synch, sometimes the alarm that sets off is not the DB+ alarm but the one that comes with the standard address book program. Is this normal? How can this be fixed without having to physically set appointments on the actual Visor?
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Carlos
I think you might have to set Datebook+ to your defualt datebook. Go into Datebook+, menu, option, then choose default datebook.
Thanks for the response but I did set DB+ as the default application and I still get some inconsitency with respect to the alarm.
I called the tech number but the guy on the other end had no idea of what could be causing the problem.

Check out thread at http://discussion.visorcentral.com/...TML/000726.html and see if that helps.
I received a response to the following:

The documentation on Datebk3 specifically tells you to run Datebk3 right
after you hotsync. If you do that you will never see a double alarm. If you
fail to do that and the very next alarm to go off was entered on the
desktop, you will get a doubled alarm.
I had assumed that since Handspring was changing the ROM Datebook anyway,
that they would have automatically quashed the alarms if the default
datebook were set to Datebook+, but it would appear they forgot to do that.
If so, I would suggest personally, that you just make it a habit to punch
the datebook button after you hotsync.

FINALLY! An answer to my problems!!!!!!!!
Now, does datebook+ have to be opened right after a hotsync, or can it be any time after a hotsync and before an alarm. Does it need to be the first thing after a hotsync, or before it turns itself off after the hotsync?
I ask because I have been very annoyed by the double alarm issue. I know that I have had datebook+ open before an alarm went off and still got the double alarm. But if it needs to be right after the hotsync, I haven't tried that yet. (I won't punch it as you suggest, I'm afraid I'll break it
)
You know, life would have been so much easier if Handspring had just only enabled alarms in datebook+, but there may have been something in the PalmOS liscensing agreement to prevent that. Oh well.
Thanx,
-Chris
