- Springboard Modules (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/forumdisplay.php?forumid=10)
-- The only bad thing about a Palm (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=7877)
The one thing that is stopping me buying a Palm device is the inability of any model to dial phone numbers (okay the TRGPro (correct TLA?) can do it, but that's too expensive). You'd think it was an obvious thing to include. This would be a great springboard module, as it would be cheap to produce and would only require a little hack to let you dial from the phonebook. All that's needed is a speaker in a module. If someone doesn't make one of these soon I'll be forced to buy a visor and solder a good speaker into it. Anyone heard of anything like this?

In one way..
Yeah, in one way you have the expensive wireless options. And the nyou have the wired options. I don't see why you need a dialer when you can just get a modem that plugs right into the phone jack. (POTS)

My address book would be full of all the contact numbers for friends etc. Whilst I could probably plug my Ericsson T18s into the Visor and dial from that (can I?) a phone dialer would be useful for beeping out the numbers into a landline handset (cheaper calls to). A modem would do that, but it'd be expensive and you'd need a spliter or summin. It would be way too much hassle.
One of palmgear.com's FAQs says that whilst a Palm cannot produce the required tones it is a limitation of the speaker not the sound system. Supposedly soldering a proper speaker in will allow you to dial numbers (but the speaker will constantly drain your batteries as it has a low impendence).
Dialling numbers
Handphone will do the dialling for you if you have a mobile phone that supports it, like the recent Nokia models. There are, I think, a selection of other programs too.
Mind you, I guess that's mostly a european thing. I look at some of the comments here about the hassle with cellphones in the US and shake my head in wonder..
Nigel
Several springboard coming soon will contain a better speaker. Perhaps, once added to the Visor, these could could be used to dial using DTMF, like the TRGPro.
I believe that the SixPac, MiniJam, and several "voice recorder" modules all have better speakers.
Doh! Just when I had decided to get a m100 instead. I guess I'll wait and see if any of those modules help.
Thanks,
F.
At least you've got that little clock window, huh?
I haven't seen any of the m100 attachments, but one is said to by an MP3 player. That outa have a speaker...

I hope I'm right! I thought I read something on a 3rd party's web site that talked about development of an MP3 player for the m100.
I could be wrong... Even if I'm right, I think it was a future product.
