Question

Now that you've played with your Prism for a while, which launcher are you using on your Prisms?

I'm currently using Launch 'Em 3 beta 9, and so far I like it. It's nice to color code the tabs for organization. I also like the drag-drop and plug-ins.

How is Launcher 3, MegaLauncher, etc.? Any conflicts/problems? Color support?

Thanks.

I'm using exactly what you're using now and I like it very much. I was using Mega Launcher II on my Palm Vx without problem, but on the Prism, it was causing some fatal errors.

Im using Launch 'Em 3 beta 9 also. I have had no problems with it and it has nice color features. The only thing negative I have found with it is that my battery power drains down quicker to about 70% in no time. For some reason, maybe the color features, it does use more battery power using it.

Yes, my experience is exactly the same. I'm considering keeping the bit depth at 256 (not 65k) and reducing the shades down to very dark but still recognizable hues for each tab (like dark blue, aqua, red, etc.). Maybe using less of the backlight power for brighter colors helps?

But LaunchEm (beta) on the Prism is definitely nice. Even stands up (somewhat) to PPC devices! I was using MegaLauncher II as well (on my IIIc before) and it just doesn't cut it for me. LaunchEm is far more user-friendly and efficient within the PalmOS environment.

Question LaunchEm 3 beta 9

Where did you get LaunchEm 3 beta 9. I just purchased version 2.1 and I didn't see any beta's on their homepage.

Thumbs up

Disintegration,

Just wanted to say thanks for posting that link. I've been looking for the color version everywhere. It looks great.

Also to everyone else, in the Launch Em 3 documentation, I found this..

NOTE for Handspring Visor Prism users (and other devices that display more than 256 colors): The color picker in Palm OS 3.5 does not work unless the screen is set to display 256 colors. It will crash if the screen is set to 65k colors (16-bit color) or more. Therefore, Launch Em only allows the use of a maximum of 256 colors (8-bit color).

Just a reminder to Disintegration that posting that link is a violation of your NDA with Synergy Systems as a BETA tester.

I too am using BETA 9 and I love it. No real problems encountered but I have also noticed the power drain increase. I am sure it is because of the color but with the improvements made I am sure I can remember to charge my Prism more often.

Were you using Beta 8

I recieved the link to try out Beta 9 from Synergy. However, Beta 8 was really killing me, being the source of what I think was a number of Fatal Errors.

Are you guys that are using Beta 9 also Beta 8 users and do you find that 9 is more stable?

Thx,

Yes I used beta 8 and found it to be very unstable on my Prism. I was hesitant to try beta 9 when it came out but I took the plunge and installed it. I have not regretted it at all. It seems to be very stable. As I posted in a earlier post the only thing I have noticed with Launch Em beta is that it drains my battery alot quicker. This is not a major issue for me but may be for someone else who travels alot. I have not had one system crash or error message since I installed it.

Excellent

Wow, that's great news. I really liked the look/feel of Launch 'Em, but the stability really bugged me (haven't had a crash since I deleted it).

I guess I'll back up like crazy and download the beta 9 now that I hear this...

Thanks QNelson!

Today I found a new launcher called Launcher Light. It can be found at http://megasoft2000.tripod.com/util...ncherLight.html

I have been extremly happy with Launchem b9 but I decided to try Launcher Light. I must say it is pretty nice so far. No crashes or errors running on my Prism. I think I will register it. It also supports color but only 256 k at this time.

Launcher

Launcher Light is pretty cool but that scroll wheel has got to go! Plus, Launch Em 3 beta supports 8MB flash ram springboard which is really handy if you swap springboards. Launch Em remembers where the icons are. Launcher light does not support this.

I've been using Launch'Em Beta9 too and I think it's great.

lavatiki, I used to use Launcher III, but was forced to switch when I upgraded to the Prism - yes, Launcher III will crash devices with OS3.5.
