Unable to Beam between VPL and VDX

My wife has my old VDX and I have a new (well, new to me via eBay) VPL. I am unable to beam to her device. Both are set to recieve beams, and both achnowledge that something is happening when we try to exchange (searching messages pop up on both machines) but ultimately they return the message "unable to find". Neither unit is using hacks, and I can confirm mine's ability to beam. What could be wrong? I have already tried a soft reset on her VDX and would rather not do a hard reset just to see if it corrects the issue....
