Unhappy My Platinum just hard-reset itself!

A strange thing happened to my Visor today. I placed it in the cradle and pressed the Hotsync button, but nothing happened. Pressing the power button did nothing (the screen just stayed off) and it just seemed dead. So I used the reset hole on the back (WITHOUT holding the power button), to do a normal soft reset and found to my horror that the 'welcome' screen had come up and the thing had hard-reset itself.

Does this sound like a hardware problem or could it be caused by software? I don't think it is a software problem, since I haven't installed anything new for ages and the hacks I do have are perfectly stable.

Anyone have any ideas?

A friend has a similar story...

Let me start by saying that I'm not sure that my friend is being entirely truthful in his story.

He claims that his Visor had a fatal error. He used the reset hole. It prompted him on whether or not to erase everything (although he claims not to have been pressing the power button). Instead of the "up" button, he claims to have pressed the "datebook" button in response. Everything was gone. Hard reset. Bad.

Again, that's the story...

I just had the same thing happen to my Prism except that I did not have mine in the cradle to sync. I pushed the power button and the unit did not turn on. Nor did it turn on after pressing any of the buttons. I did a soft reset and found myself at the welcome screen. Thankfully, my last sync was only two days ago and I had entered no new information (that I can recall), but now I am nervous. Anyone else had similar issues with their units?
