Talking

I wonder if this means a new color screen visor is coming out...

This is the price drop I have been waiting for! Doesn't matter if a new version is coming out, I would be happy with a Prism and the price is finally right.

Price has already dropped, don't need to wait till the 8'th. Check Handspring's website.

They probably do have a price guarantee, but those usually have shorter time frames than the return policy. So, if price guarantee time limit is expired you might returning it and then buy another one (assuming you are within the return time period). If either of these fail, you might try speaking w/ a manager. Maybe you can get a $100 credit at the store? It is worth a shot.

Staples has a 14 day return, exchange, or price guarantee policy. I've seen people get pissed and talk to (yell at) a manager and they got what they wanted. So it just depends on how rude you want to get.

I bought it online! Who am I supposed to get nasty with there?

With the price lowering of the prism, I think a new model is on the way... But, did you also notice all of the handspring modules on sale? I wonder if this signals the end of the springboard port as we know it?

I personally really like the port, and the cards I have purchased. I hope if anything it is being slowly replaced by a newer, better, technology. If this is the case I am waiting for the fire sale on remaining springboard modules!

Staples

When the Prism droped from 449 to 399, Staples gave me the refund. It was a 30 day policy. No questions asked!

Perhaps I should check into this...Although it's listed for $399 on their website still.

"Price has already dropped, don't need to wait till the 8'th. Check Handspring's website."

Hey, Maddog, what is this about the 8th? Was this supposed to be the official date for lowering the price or something?

When the Prism drops to $199, I'm snapping one up along with that snap-on game pad, and a BeatPlus. That will be my dedicated arcade/rpg unit. Oh yeah! >rubbing hands<

Originally Marcus had reported that the price was dropping on the 8th. I went to Handspring's site and it had already dropped, so I figured I would note that in the forum.

Half of me hopes they aren't coming out with a new improved color visor - (That would be my wife - the one that will have to listen to me whine about why I really, really, need the new one)
The other half of me is going - yipeeee! Something else for my Christmas list. And here I was thinking about a Sony Clie!

I was at Frye's and CompUSA today, the Handspring displays were up but the stock was very low. The CompUSA salesman said Handspring is coming out with a new line but he would say anything else. The Frye's PDA manager said they were waiting for new stock. When I informed him that the Prisms were $299 he said he figured they would drop the price before the new line came in. Now both of them could be wack jobs like the Staple's guy that said Palm OS is history.

If there is an updated Prism, it will can't be kept under wraps much longer. 1 Year anniversary of the Prism is coming as well as HandSpring Anual report scheduled for Oct 17th I think. Hmmmm new color device or treo ? Decisions Desicions

I guess for me I would lean towards the new prism. For a couple of reasons.

1. Already have the visorphone and still have 9 months left on the contract.
2. Springboards - that's why I really like visor & keeping pushing them with my friends & co-workers.

So who will jump at $299 and who is waiting for the new prism most likely @ $399.00

My wife wants my visor and I am ready to upgrade. I don't have to be on the cutting edge, but if they will add their jog rocker (treo)I am all for it.

If the new colour device (if it exists at all) *is* $399 I'll get that. But if it's more, I'll get the Prism - I've been waiting for ages for the price to go down.

Happy news

And for those of us who have been collecting add-ons - the stowaway folding keyboard that I got for my VDX works with the Prism. I tested it on a example model at my local CompUsa. Beamed the driver, and snapped the keyboard on the bottom. Worked like a charm.

Thats 99.00 dollars worth of reason right there.

Cheers!
