My dog ate my Visor

I got a new dog. A 90 pound shepherd/husky mix. I love her dearly. When I woke up this morning, I heard her crunching on something. Her bone, I figured. I was wrong. She ate my Platinum. I kid you not. $300 down the tubes.

Thank God for the backup module, I hope. Seeing as I can't live without my PDA, I already ordered a new one. But, as long as I have to buy a new PDA, I figured I'd go for the color. So, I bought a Prism. This is going to be fun. But, please tell me, will the backup module restore my info to the Prism? I sure hope so. Otherwise, I'm in deep you-know-what.

I haven't been on this forum for a very long time. But, this minor event NOT, brought me back. I'm trying to relax and enjoy this new purchase, which I haven't received yet, rather than having a breakdown. It really wasn't my dog's fault. She didn't know. But, I sure learned a lesson.

Happy Treo 600 user, so far. Thanx Cingular for having an unlocked phone.

My Treo 600 is my phone, my PDA, my watch, and my MP3 player. Oh yeah, I take a picture once in a while with it. Convergence is such a great thing.

1) assuming you have property (aka apartment or homeowner's) insurance, depending on the terms of the insurance you may be able to get compensated for the dog's actions, less a deductible. (I had a TV get fried early in 2001; my deductible was slightly more than I could replace it for, so ...)

2) I assume doggie's been to the vet after this episode? please reassure!

Well, I have renters insurance, but it's a $500 deductible. And, it's not a cumulative expense, like health insurance. Each event is counted separately. Good thought, though. Someone had asked me if I maybe purchased recently enough for a credit card guarantee to kick in. Nope, again. I bought Platinum over a year ago. Oh well.............

As far as the doggie goes, she's fine. Actually, she didn't "eat" the Visor. She just demolished it, while eating off the leather case. That was in total pieces. The Visor itself has a severely broken screen and chewed upon case. It is totally nonfunctional, though no pieces are missing. So, please rest assured. She's happily chewing on her stuffed squeaky toy at the moment. :-)

The upside of all of this: I'm getting a Prism. Color in my life!!!

Assuming you sync your platinum with a PC, all you will have to do is plug in your new Prism into your computer and Hotsync. The Platinum & Prism use the same software. Everything will go back just the way it was, except it will all transfer to your Prism.

Or, you could try sticking your dogs tail in the USB port and poking her nose.

Arrow Oh Boy

I always thought that the Dog ate my.... spiel was a lie and lame excuse. Boy this sure have put things into perpective. Maybe you should get your dog a cheap 2 MB unit as a toy.
