what do you think the age range for the visor is.. i have a nephew who is totally in love with computers and stuff and hed LOVE a visor. what do you think?

If I had to guess I would say that the average user would be about 30 years old because:

1) Anyone I have showed my visor (used to use a pilot, changed positions and lost the perk) to that is say, 40 or older says "What's wrong with a good old paper datebook"

2) Anyone I have showed my visor to that is, oh about 20 - 25 says "You are into computing WAY TOO much!"

Not a very scientific basis for my answer, but it's all I got!

Anyone else??? BTW, I'm 32.

my nephew is 14 years old. i know he would love one and he has talked about wanting a palm pilot but i just dont konw if he would have a good use for it.. what do you thnk

I am a good deal closer to 40 than I am to 30 and I am waiting with great impatience for my Visor. All ages can be cool ya know ;-)

Life is to short for boring food

As a college student, the Visor (or any PalmOS-based PDA for that matter) is a great way to keep track of a hectic life! 14 may be a little young for such an expensive and relatively fragile device, but if you think he could take care of it then it would probably benefit him greatly. Friends' phone numbers, class notes, assignment to-do's, etc... It'll help organize, which is what it was designed for! I personally use a program called DueYesterday to keep track of my assignments from classes and such.

Well, I'm only fifteen and I just ordered my Blue Visor Deluxe. Hopefully this information is of use to you! I plan to use it for assignments, phone numbers, and a little business (I run a website as a part-time job) - also, it is just cool to have something new that no one (around here, at least) has seen.

OK, whippersnappers, enough of the "old folks don't get it" stuff. I'm 42. (Of course people usually guess that I'm 10 years or more younger.) Heck, I've got underwear older than some of you.

If a 10 year-old had a need for a Visor and was responsible enough to take care of it and not break the screen every month, I'd see nothing wrong with getting him/her one. "wrp" has the right idea, IMHO.

You are all making me feel ancient, because I'm 46. But I think my BVD is fantastic!

...and ancienter. 56 today and I don't shy away from new toys.

I am 13 years old and i love my visor deluxe. I use it everyday for school and everything, If the person was responsible enough they should have it. at any age.

I'd say if a 14-year-old likes tech and has the ambition to use a Visor, go for it! I probably wouldn't have the computer skills I've got now if Dad hadn't given me a computer when I was a teenager... even though common consensus was that computers were for 'serious' tech heads and business people.

Give the kid a head start on portable computing!

What if your sole purpose in life is to serve as a warning to others?

I, like a lot of individuals here, am a college student who is using it to (hopefully) make my backpack a wee-bit lighter (with the help of e-books, note taking, organizer, address book, etc..) I think the PalmOS is versitle enough that anyone who is interested in getting one would find some use for it. I feel that palm computing has the potential to be all most people need for 80%-90% of their computing needs and therefore I feel the younger you get into it the better.

Looking at it from a job point of view (because in a few years these younger individuals will be out in the "real world") -- It makes sense for companies to utilize these systems. They are much cheaper than laptops, more portable, easy to backup, have a low TOC (total cost of ownership), etc .. I would venture that in a few years many companies will have palm computers as their primary computer systems for many of their employees. Because of this, I feel anyone who gets into it now is just ahead of the game.

I'm 19 and love my Visor.

I am 14 years old and a freshman in high school. I use it more than anyone I know. One thing I should ad is that I have a tech obsession and I am really uptight about people using my Visor Deluxe. I think most people my age should not get this because most teens aren't very responsible. Just this weekend when I was at my wrestling tournament, my Visor was almost broken by one of my teammates. I brought the Visor to show my coach who has a Palm3 and one of the wrestlers took it off of my coach and dropped it. Luckily it had the Leather Slip Caseand the plastic cover on it so it wasn't hurt. Just my advice.

I am 13 and i have gone through a palmIII and PalmIIIx and about half of my class(30 kids) have palmpilots....one has a VD and two ordered but did get them yet......There is no right or wrong age.....I think it just depends on the person.

WOW half of your class has paml pilots?/ you must have a rich school or just a really cool one!!! anywaz thank you all for all the info. i think i will go ahead and buy my nephew that visor!!

My present to myself last week for my 45th birthday was a GraphVdx, Best gift I ever gave myself. FWIW, I still play my 9 year old daughter GBC and N64
