-- How do I beam to HP LJ with IR? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=10957)
Just got my first PDA - a Prism.
I need step by step instructions for setting up beaming to HP LJ5P port with Win 98. Please include the way to add the IR driver in win 98. I also need all settings laid out step by step as I am a newbie.
Thanks,
Fran

Umm - you wouldn't need to install the drivers in Win98 for IR printing to the printer unless you're intending not to have a printer cable hooked up to it. Is that what you want to do?
For the prism, there are a number of programs that enable beaming of documents, etc to a IR aware printer. I just checked Tucows (www.tucows.com) and under the PDA/Palm section there is a listing for Utilities/Infrared. There are three listed on the page that allow printing. Download the shareware versions and then install them via the Palm Desktop. If you like the software, there is generally a small fee for the program. There should be more detailed instructions included with the files.
Cheers!

I print to Ir enabled HP printers all the time with the shareware PalmPrint. It lets you print out your tasks and memos. It works great.
I maintain >200 pc's at work so I also use HanDbase to keep track of my work orders. That allows you to beam all of your database or one record to an Ir enabled printer. It impresses the hell out of the users when I point the Visor's Ir at the printer and the work order comes out!
By the way, you don't have to hook the printer up to a pc to do this. It just has to be on.
Go to palmgear.com or tucows and look for Ir printers, download one and give it a try.
If you keep track of anything; books, work orders, passwords, inventory, etc.,look up HanDbase.
Another thing to look at is OmniRemote. I use it to control my TV,VCR,CD, and Receiver all on one customizable screen. It operates up to 20 feet for me. You can even program macros -ie turn on the TV, vcr, receiver, and play the video tape by pressing one button! Way cool.
Have fun! Amaze your friends!
I use PalmPrint too. It's soo cool to impress my friends with it at school. My school uses HP LJ's so it's easy. I just wish it oculd print docs!
