Angry Visor Touch Screen Broken

I dropped my Visor and now I can't get the touch screen to respond I've done a soft reset it with no luck. I don't want to attempt a hard reset until I can recover my data first.

I have an identical Visor and I swapped screens. That still didn't help. The *broken* screen worked on the good Visor and the *good* screen won't work on the Visor that's evidently broken. GRRR

I wouldn't mind getting a new one, but I need to get my files off of this one first and I can't hotsync the darned thing! Can anyone help me figure out how to hotsync and/or get this thing fixed? Thanks.

Are you saying you can't hotsync because the touch screen's broken? Or is that a separate issue?

Just on the off-chance you don't know (forgive me if you do already, but you never know), you don't need to use the on-screen hotsync command -- you can just put the Visor in the cradle and activate the hotsync using the button on the cradle itself.

Leo,

Thanks for your reply.

I have tried to do the hotsync by putting it in the cradle and pushing the button on the cradle. It just sits there and doesn't do a thing. Is there an alternate way of doing it?

When the Visor starts up, I get the "Tap center of target" command. Of course, I can't tap it. That's the problem. Why is it that I changed screens with the other visor I have and it still doesn't work?

Hmm, sorry, that's beyond me. Though since your Visor's trying to execute the stylus re-alignment sequence, it sounds as though you did successfully re-set, for all the good that seems to be doing you now.

When you dropped it, how long had it been since you'd last done a sync/backup? Would you lose that much data if you just sync'd your PC to the new Visor and just started using that one from here on in, or until you were able to get this one repaired?

It's possible PalmOne will be able to repair the touch screen without losing the data, but I wouldn't count on it.
