Are we unloved?

So, I'm looking at the feature list on the new Visor Pro - blinking alarm, fast lookup...then I read the bit about how the case will be essentially the same as the current Visors - meaning, no translucent plastics, etc. So here I am wondering, what Prism owner shat on Handspring's front lawn that we don't have these features too?

HS updates the VDX and Plat, it's okay because everybody knows they low and midlevel. HS updates their flagship PDA with a relatively small upgrade, everybody thinks that that is the best they can do. Underwhelming new midlevel PDAs are ok, underwhelming top of the line PDAs are a very bad sign.

Handspring is improving where it sells best in the mid-range PDA market.

I think you've both missed my point. Let me state it another way. Everyone was jumping on Sony's back because they weren't offering up a clear upgrade path to PalmOS 4 for their N710 users when the 610 and now the 750 showed up. But Sony made good.

Handspring introduced new features in PalmOS 3.5H with the Edge that have found their way onto the two new models, which are essentially the same hardware as current models. So why haven't Prism owners been offered a patch for the blinking alarm (which Prism should be capable of out of the box) and the fast lookup? Why isn't Handspring doing right by owners of "legacy" models (even though the Prism hasn't TECHNICALLY been replaced by anything yet.)

Arrow Could it be

Cpuld he be that the function you mentioned is built into the unit and cannot be added to the Prism? I can't see how it would work with a software patch. IN any case, the bliking alarm thing is useless.

I think Handspring's introduction of their new models is the beginning of their next generation of Visors (at least I'd like to think so). The Neo and Pro are supposed to replace the base models, so I'm hoping within the next year HS is going to release replacements for their "upscale" models (for you hoity-toity Prism/Edge owners ). For a while I thought Handspring was lagging in their innovations, and while they may not compare to Sony's new models, it gives me hope that HS is going to surprise us soon. I guess surprise is the appropriate term considering they're so secretive about their models.

I do kind of wish Visors could have Flash ROM... I didn't think it was a big deal, but with the requirements in OS versions increasing in many programs (not to mention new features), it's hard keeping my lowly Deluxe current for the year I've had it. I guess it's better than having a IIIxe! I'm just biding my time until Handspring really wows me, I suppose (or the Prism drops another $50 - yeah, I'm a cheap bastard).

Man, at least they could tease us a little with what they had in store! Yeah, yeah, don't want to discourage potential Neo & Pro buyers, do we?
