Unhappy Visor in the washing machine

My Dad's Pro spent a few minutes in the washing machine in pocket of his trousers. Ouch!

After a couple of rounds of opening it up, rinsing it out with distilled water, and scrubbing out the detergent deposits with a soft tooth brush, and then drying it out, it is almost working.

It works perfectly when on the charging cradle, but as soon as it it removed from the cradle it turns off, and will not turn back on until it is back on the cradle.

Any ideas?

Maybe static? A BOUNCE sheet in the dryer might get rid of it

Seriously...how long has it dried out? Maybe needs more time???

I hope he (or an elephant) wasn't in the trousers at the time.

The batteries might be dead. Though you should wait a little longer to confirm if its really the battery before changing.

I agree with the battery as the culprit- it may have shorted out.

It MIGHT recover after a nice long charge, but if it has not yet, I doubt it will.

Before shooting it back to Handspring for repair, you might want to try your local Battery Patrol or similar battery speciality store to see if they think they can do it- they can often test it for you at least and give you further advice.

Try to reset the Visor in its cradle first and see if it helps.
