My satisfaction is beside the point. The point is that cell phones of any stripe sell better than PDAs due to greater consumer acceptance and more ubiquitous distribution channels. I can't know how the Treo "will" do in the market, but the signs are encouraging. The Treo can sell in the same consumer electronics stores and office supply superstores as the Cli� or what-have-you; moreover, it can sell in Cingular stores and shopping mall kiosks.

But my bottom line still stands: the Treo will not save Handspring from it's inevitable demise. Unless, that is, Handspring does something big, something new, besides the Treo, and besides their Visor line.

"You're wrong, so there!" is not an argument, unless you can qualify why the Treo is an exception to something big and new. Until it's been on the shelves for awhile, the Treo's potential (or lack thereof) to save Handspring remains conjecture.

Gameboy, i have to agree with you. Treo sales will be indicative of the market conditions in the near furture. As of now, i am aslo waiting for a cdma treo. My curent job requres me to travel from Los Angeles, to san Diego, to Las Vegas. My pro and digital link serve the purpose now, but a cdma Treo would fit the bill nicely. All in one pda/cell phone devices will catch on. I think Handspring will continue to support the visor, as well as new incarnations like the treo. For me, being a "road warrior" , these all in one devices are a godsend. I couldn't do my job without them.

I expect the Treo to do much better than the Palm i705 and will rival the hapless (or is it appless) Blackberry.
