Hotsync problems
Over the past few weeks, I've been having problems getting my Visor VDX to Hot Sync. When I press the Hotsync button on my cradle the VDX DOES respond--so I know the connection is good and it doesn't need a reset. I checked to make sure the USB is fully in position.
However, the desktop software doesn't respond! I tried exiting the Hotsync software and restarting it then pressing the hotsync button again. This did no good.
Any thoughts?
Try a soft reset. This has solved many HotSync problems for many people.
If that does not help, perhaps provide us with any error message that is generated on the handheld.

1) The handheld DOES repsond, the desktop does not--reset shouldn't do anything for that.
2) Error message: "connection could not be established....."
sounds like your hotsync manager may not be listening on the right port for a hotsync connection.
Try one or more of these:
Right click on the hotsync manager icon in the tray and make sure Local USB is checked.
Check that the visor is making good contact with the cradle.
Check the USB with another device.
Try syncing using Serial.
Reinstall the Hotsync manager.

My cradle is a folding travel cradle that I bought from CompUSA in May. It has never given me trouble up to this point.
It has two seperate cables--one for USB and one for serial--you select which one with a little switch on the side.
Anyway I switched over to serial and it worked fine. This makes me think that the contacts in the cradle itself are OK.

Thanks for the thoughts. After doing some checking I decided that it was probably my USB drivers. I re-installed the driver file from CD. Everything seems to be working fine now.
I tried running the USB fix from Handspring's website last night.
Thanks again.
