-- I need a screw.... (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=33075)

I need a screw....

Somewhere along the way the screw that holds in that piece that the stylus tips into fell out. I still have the piece, but no screw.

Is this an even remotely standard screw? If not, anybody know where I can get one?

thanks very much,
bagelche

ok, folks. I've now lost 3 of the little guys. Has anyone else had this problem? The thing is still holding together fine, but... which one's next? I don't notice them loose, just suddenly they're gone.

Any info on where I can get these screws?

thanks again,
bagelche

it's been a while since i looked closely at them, but they look to be about the size of the screws used in eyeglasses. Maybe a trip to your local lenscrafters or other optical store might yield something useful.

I periodically check mine with a precision screwdriver. Tightening them up if they need it. I know that doesn't help, but I did purchase a broken edge of ebay to use as a parts unit since gethightech.com doesn't sell them.

I had the same problem and the man at Lenscrafters was very accomodating. Of course I also had eyeglass business at the time.

i decided to be a little more 'pre-emptive' and i unscrewed all of the screws and applied a little lock-tite to each and screwed them back in. i decided to do this after losing one screw off the side and one day reaching into my pocket only to find that the stylus tip holder had fallen off in my pocket! Luckily the screw was still in the 'holder' so i re-attached it (first applying some lock-tite of course!)

if you do manage to find some screws at your eye-glass store....go to your local hardware store and get some lock-tite schtuff....you barely need a pinhead sized drop as you only need a bit of hold.

thanks for the suggestions.... I still haven't had time to go to the eye doc's, but hopefully that'll work out.
