I use AppHack which extends each of the 4 HW buttons to 6 choices each (secondary selection by any of the 6 HW buttons). So in one sense only DB > DB+ and Address > Address+. In another sense...22 remaps.

Tons of remaps

I won't even go into my Silkscreen remaps, I must have, AT LEAST, 10 different swipe maneouvers that do different stuff. Of course I can't remember them now but when I need em' I know exactly what to do. UPDATED: Ok I counted, 18!
Datebook-Datebk4
Address-Eyecontact
Todo-Listmaker

I remapped the contacts for eyecontact, and the todo button for bugme messenger. I really don't use the todo list much- I still have this need to actually write out my todo lists....

My buttons

I forgot about the silkscreen options, so I've remapped 3 instead of two.

Calc - Epocrates
Datebook - Datebk+
Memo - ButtonLaunch - this lets me get to most of my programs in 2-3 button pushes.

First I hit Memo which opens up ButtonLaunch, then the next button is held for <0.3sec (short) or >0.3sec (long) to launch another program (even the up/down buttons). Another ButtonLaunch menu layer lets me remap them again (that second layer has my less frequently used programs since they take 3 button pushes - though still faster than finding the right icon to tap with my stylus - esp counting the time it takes to pull out the stylus). So...

Memo +...

Date (short) - WeSync calendars (lets my wife and I sync our calendars with each other)
Date (long) - AvantGo
Address (short) - Calc
Address (long) - Pocket Quicken
Up (short) - Handheldmed Reader (textbook reader)
Up (long) - qID (infectious disease reference)
Down (short) - DoseCalc+ (lets me calculate medication does by weight, quickly)
Down (long) - next Button launch map level (I won't bore you with those combinations of buttons)
Todo (short) - Checklist Lite
Todo (long) - HanDBase
Memo (short) - Diddlebug
Memo (long) - Memo

I voted 2 but in fact I have the following mapping:

Datebook -> DB+ (I forgot to count this one)
To Do -> Progect
Notepad -> Wordsmith
Calculator -> DiddleBug (only until DiddleBug lets me map Wordsmith to a button! I'll change this back to the calculator when that happens)

Posted by redtideguy on 04-04-2001 09:32 PM:

Datebook = Datebook+
Phone = Super Names
To Do = To Do
Memo = BugMe!

Plus PopClock if I hold down the Datebook button

Most are remapped

I use AppHack, so each program is brought up by a two button combination:

Datebook-Datebook = Datebook 3h
Datebook-Phone = LauncherIII
Datebook-Up = OmniRemote
Datebook-ToDo = Launcher
Datebook-Memo = ePocrates (Anyone in Healthcare needs this program!!)

Phone-Phone = Address Book (standard program)
Phone-Datebook = Big Clock
Phone-Down = Ultrasoft Money (VERY helpful for quick entry of transactions when don't have a free hand to select with the stylus)
Phone-Memo = Diddle

To Do List = To Do List (standard program, not double keyed)

Memo-Memo = Wordsmith
Memo-ToDo = BibleReader
Memo-Anythingelse = Memo

My wife thinks this is too confusing to use, but I think it is the best hack I have. Messes with my Stowaway keyboard, so I turn it off when I use the keyboard, but other than that, I love bringing up almost any program with the touch of a button (or two!).

SCM, thanks for the apphack tip...

I like it a lot, but it keeps everything by DB+ from cycling.... so I may have to dump it (unless there's a fix?)

If you mean that repeated button presses (buttons presses?) of the one that calls up DB+ does NOT cycle the DB+ views, you have to go into Preferences and set the 2nd button you use in AppHack for DB+ to ALSO call up DB+. The default, and after a hard reset is DB, not DB+. If it's set for DB, your second button(s) press for DB+ will invoke DB instead.

Here's my setup and it cycles the DB+ views:
Preferences: db button = DB+ app
AppHack: db button + db button = DB+
