okay here's the deal...i upgraded to the prism last month..and with all the new games... and business (ahem) materials on my visor i am running out of room... on my unit (after a full down load from avantgo and all my email and newsgroups i have about 800kb left over). on the 8meg flash module i have 708kb free...thats not alot....i have been given the go ahead by my wife to get additional storage....so whats the best solution...the 16 meg flash?

aside from the 16meg flash are any addressable like my current springboard?
i already have the backup module..so backup isn't really an issue and actually would prefer having the backup separate from the unit...
any and all thoughts appreciated...
i gotta strike and get the memory before my wife forgets that she gave permission....

Memplug memory

Despite the fact that they are backordered on PalmGear.com, I just ordered the newly released MemPlug module and bid on a 64 Mb SmartMedia card on E-bay. You can't run every application from it like you can with some other Springboard memory modules, but you can store data, view Jpegs on SMC cards without conversion using the included PiViewer, and watch movie files and read Doc files with certain applications, Gmovie and C-Spot Run, respectively. The memory has a good price per mb too.

Of course, she'll totally forget about your Visor before PalmGear fills the backorder. I've been waiting since 4/6 but they're the only game in town.

I want the MemPlug because it's the best solution for now and I've got plenty of reference material to store on it.

A second for the MemPlug

I second the nomination for the MemPlug. It's a quality product with quality support. The provided apps are a plus, but being a true Springboard is what sets it ahead of the CF adapters.

That being said, if what you really need is more "running" room for frequently used apps and DB's. the Hagiwara 16MB module fits the bill. If your data needs run more toward occasionally used references and apps, I'd lean toward the MemPlug.

If the CF adapter manufacturers ever get their acts together, we'll see a true CF adapter Springboard with drivers and apps in onboard flash. Their transfer speeds make them a more viable candidate for auto-copy-and-run technology than the MemPlug because its present file transfer speeds seem too slow.

Hagiwara 16MB Flash Module

Hagiwara 16MB Flash Module. You can run all your programs off the Module - No need to transfer files to the prism to use them! I have over 10 MB on the Flash (mostly games) This still leaves me with 6 MB free on the Flash plus I have about 5 left on the Visor itself. The great part is that Quickbits and hacks like Afterburner work on the flash module too. The only files I have on the visor itself are pdb files and the few programs that come preinstalled in the Visor's ROM.

I've had my module since they first came out and I think it is the best investment I have made.

You might check out the prices at newegg.com. I was searching for 64MB smart media and found the cheapest prices there. Ebay auction prices tend to go above theirs nearly always and this has free fedex shipping on larger sizes and you're dealing with a real business.

i say the hagiware 16mb modual is the best choice. one reason is that it is cheaper than two 8mb moduals form handspring. i use it for storing almost all my apps, and since i own a 2mb visor the visor is running out of room very quickly because of the database part of applications. the only problem i have with it is that if i remove or insert it when the visor is off and then i turn the visor back on it freezes causing me to do a soft reset. but that doesnt bother me at all.
