Prism display problem

My problem is that everything on the LCD looks very faded. You have to look quiet hard to see the images, all of the functions appear to be working other than the battery will not hold a charge.

I have tried a soft reset.
I have tried to adjust the brightness, without success.

Could the battery cause this problem? I am going to order a replacement battery, just wandering if something else could be causing the LCD problem.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
