-- Disapointing news from Handspring - No PQAs (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=7999)
I received this e-mail from Handspring support after I inquired if the current Visors will ever be able to run the Palm VII PQA's
Thank you for your inquiry. At this time we have not heard about the
visor in the future being able to run the Palms wireless applications.
Thank you,

COMMENTS: I am wondering if Hanspring will ever have a software patch
for the Visor that will allow you to run Palm VII .PQA applications.
There are so many wirless solutions comming for the Visor but no way to
run the new wireless apps for Palm. Right now you can run .pqa's on any
Palm with OS 3.3 or above but because the Visor is 3.1H it won't work.
You might get a more definitive answer from OmniSky, since their wireless service on the Palm V can access PQAs as well as the rest of the web. I don't know what version of the Palm OS the Palm V runs. But hopefully, you'll be able to use OmniSky via the Mistrel S.
Well, the Palm V is flash upgradable, so it wouldn't be too hard to get 3.3 on it.

I tried the Omnisky software on my Visor.......Oh Boy......
Well, I'm sure the Omnisky folks will have some kind of software for the Visor when that modem comes out and hopefuly it will let you run PQA's....But just for fun I backed up my Visor with my backup module and tried to install the Omnisky software....Totaly hosed my Visor and I had to hard reset. I just restored it with my backup module but it was a little scare there for a second.

somebody had posted that the new wireless module (can't remember the name...too early in the morning...was it omnisky or the other one?) came as a package with a new visor to begin with because the 'visor required some modification'. and that older visors will be able to use the module in the future when the 'modification' was made available....
could this be related?

shielding problem? heh. sounds a little fishy to me.
Prod them a little more until they give you the real reason.
