VPro and serial hotsync cable
Is the serial Hotsync cable a true RS-232 output? I recently purchased a VPro and the serial hotsync cable intending to connect it to a GPS unit, but no workee. I know the GPS works because I can connect my PIII to it and get a location.
Thanks on the TMobile ISDN number, my VPhone works great with it...

Re: VPro and serial hotsync cable
quote:No... unlike the Palm hardware, the Visor signals are actually TTL-level, not true RS-232. The serial hotsync cables use a little converter circuit that is typically powered by the PC. Your GPS unit probably doesn't supply the necessary power. Also, serial hotsync cables tend to be of a slightly different design from regular serial cables due to the way the Visor distinguishes a serial hotsync connection from a USB one. There are a variety of 3rd=party serial cables available for this purpose.
