Question Sound problem on Prism...advice?

Hey all,

I recently had to contact Handspring to send me a new Prism - the case was cracked (pisses me off, because this is the second time I have had to get a replacement because of this - and I baby my Prism - it is never abused, so it must be just a flaw in the cases). Well I got it today, but there seems to be a problem with the sound on the replacement Prism. The sound (alarm, game, etc.) on the replacement is LESS THAN HALF that of my Prism. Even if both are set to high, the "high" volume on the replacement Prism is roughly equal to the "Low" setting on my Prism. It is bad - and since I use the sound on my Prism a lot for alarms, etc. I need it loud. I did a test - both Prism's fully charged, sitting side-by-side on a hard surface, and set the Alarm prefs setting to high (which you know plays the alarm). Sure enough the sound on the replacement Prism is less than half - you can barely hear it.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what did you do about it? I called Handspring a while ago to tell them that their REPLACEMENT was defective, and he said I had to call Tech Support in the morning and talk to them about it before they'd send out another replacement. That really bites.

Any help would be appreciated....

boy have I had like every problem presented?!?!

On a replacement prism I got, I had this same thing happen - not to the exact same extreme - but it was about to meduim - enough so I slept through it. I did the exact same tests and all - and here's my solution.

I would call tech support - don't void your warrenty, and have them get a new one.

What's wrong is that the speaker (peizo buzzer) isn't RIGHT aganst the case, if it's loose in any way it get's quiet.

Sorry you got a bad one - who knows why it came loose.
