Question

I have a Compaq Armada 7792 laptop that is just a year old now. It has IR but no USB. Should I invest $60 in a USB PCMCIA Host Card or just try to get the IR working ?...I remember having trouble with it and disabled it when I added a network and modem card.

I bought for the extra $20 the Serial cable so I could put it to use without fighting with configs.

Any help suggestion or info about this USB PCMCIA card would be appreciated.

Unhappy

Since I haven't gotten any responses, I'll ask my question again...

Does anyone have any experience with a USB Host PCMCIA card for a laptop ?

With all the creative minds here and no outlet (while waiting for visor to arrive) ...someone must know...

Weasel,

My knowledge of USB<>PCMCIA issues are very third hand, however I'm quite sure to use a PCMCIA to USB card requires the laptop have BusCard (32-bit) support.

In my opinion you're better off sticking to serial/IR with your Compaq, but if you want to look into USB, I'd recommend checking out these sites for more on USB through PCMCIA:

On a tangential note, when does this board get a Wolverine?
