-- InnoGear ready to ship MiniJam ... (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=5511)
Oops... and I already ordered. I too was really looking forward to the voice recording feature. Too bad they didn't hire a "Customer Evangelist" like GeoDiscovery!
Wonder if I should cancel my order...???

No voice recorder? No zero memory option? Sorry, Innogear, but not letting us know of these major changes in the functionality and pricing of the Minijam ahead of time means you've lost me as a customer.Keeping silent about these changes throughout the eight months we've had to wait and then hiking prices is inexcuseable.
In reply to Hawthorne, I think the price is a reflection of the Flash Rom prices outside of Innogears' control. But they really should have come out about the changes. It is almost, if not outright, deceitful that they "failed" to mention the missing voice recorder on their preorder page. If it had been for the general public I could understand, but this email and webpage was intended specifically for a target audience who had been told previously the feature would be there.
PS. My wife is pissed she wont be able to record medical journals to transcribe later, and I am pissed I wont be able to keep a log like on StarTrek!
Just to add to my earlier post regarding recording capability:
On a more positive note, I E-mailed Innogear through the address on their website on the day that they broadcasted the pre-order availablity, and got a real response from a real person in about 24 hrs. Not too shabby, considering what we as a user community have come to expect from various companies lately. So on customer inquiry response, Innogear gets gold star from me.

I went ahead and pre-ordered the MiniJam. I wasn't interested in it before they sent me the e-mail about the pre-order. I was on the mailing list just because of the SixPak..
Since I didn't care about playing MP3's on my Visor, I looked at the MiniJam as a VERY expensive toy. Remember, the old FAQ stated that the 64mb version had an "estimated" price of $225, so I wasn't as surprised as other people seem to be on the cost of the module.
My main need for my Visor, is memory. As I have stated before in other threads, Im a big time reader of books (and good fanfiction). I have already bought two 8mb modules, and its getting expensive. Sure, I know I can delete the files once Ive read them, and I usually do, but there are a few that I will read over and over again, and I want to keep them handy.) There is also my BibleReader and files they take up over 1,700kb. I also want to add a dictionary, and I know those are huge. In order for me to get an extra 64mb, using the 8mb modules, I would spend over $650!

from VC interview w/ Bob Fullerton of Innogear:
VC (James): In VisorCentral's discussion area there were questions about InnoGear releasing a stand-alone multimedia card (MMC) reader. Is that a product that InnoGear is definately considering
Fullerton: We're definately considering that, and its a project on the roadmap. It's already there -- it's a small offshoot of the MiniJam, so we don't have to redesign anything. It's a very simple tooling effort, so expect to see that this year for sure.
