-- inexpensive case (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=3622)
FYI: I had bought a neoprene phone case from a Sharper Image store for my PCS phone. I decommissioned that phone in '99, but recently was cleaning my desk and found phone and before mentioned belt case. On a whim I tried it out on my Visor. It's a tight fit, but not too tight to get in or out. The case is slightly longer than the Visor and would probably stretch to fit a modem module. The case is still being sold for around 10 bucks (US) and is pretty sturdy. I used the case alot with my PCS phone and liked it, though it's not really a stylish case it is unobtrusive with jeans.
Pretty vague description of what the case actually is called. Could you give the exact product name? an SKU # ? Anything ?
Sorry about the vagueness.I bought it at the store about a year and a half ago. I've seen them in the store as recently as last week. I don't get their catalog so I can't give a SKU. It was called something like "Cell Phone Case".The case is black neoprene holster type case with a strap that secures with velcro. The case also has a plastic belt clip on the back They don't really have any other phone cases. They may have one other size, so I recommend going to the store and checking it out. I will get the SKU when I go to Albany later this week. I have been using it more and found that it sits much better on my hip with the Visor in it, than it did with my phone. Most likely because th Visor is flatter. For ten bucks it's a pretty good deal if you're looking for a simple belt case.
For under $10 (well, with tax $10.88), I got a very nice leather zipper case that holds the Visor perfectly. I got it at a Wilson leather goods outlet store in Cabazon, California (outside Palm Springs).
It appears to be identical to the Fossil case I've seen on several web sites. It was sold as a generic hand-held computer case.
It has two leather-covered elastic straps to hold the Visor in -- one at the top and one just above the buttons. On the left are four slots for holding cards or whatever. It has two elastic loops for holding pen/stylus/whatever. I found a small plastic tube (actually it originally held a nail file) which holds two batteries in one of the loops. It's quite nice looking. Dimensions are 5 5/8 x 4 1/2 x 1 1/8 (with the Visor in it).
You have to take the Visor out to sync or beam, but it comes out easily.
Does your "Wilson" case have a place for a little pad of paper?
Yes. It even came with a small notepad. But I quickly decided the extra thickness/weight was unnecessary and abandoned the notepad. I THOUGHT I would use it a lot when I bought it, but then I determined that I really never did!
I do carry post-it notes in the empty Springboard slot. They came in really handy two weeks ago. I was sitting on jury duty and we were in deliberations and were trying to figure out a way to identify the different jury instructions without actually making a mark on them (which we were instructed not to do). Then I thought of my post-its, and pulled out my Visor. The young man sitting next to me said, "What's that?" I told him basically about the Visor. Then when I opened up the back and disgorged the post-its, he said, "Wow! Really cool! It comes with post-its!" Oh well, some people are impressed by the darndest things! (The post-its were exactly what is needed and the bailiff said he would start providing them to all juries!)
