I have a Magellan GPS Companion and I travel quite a bit. I have run in to problems on not knowing what maps to load before my trip. Any body have any suggestions? I usually go to more than one county so loading the entire county is out. Is there a GPS friendly map program out there?

It would be great if someone threw together an HTML doc that had the US map on it with states and counties and you just click to get the MAP PRC file and install it. I would do it but it is a little above my HTML skills.

Is there a way to auto load the maps. For example when you get to the corner of one - is there a way that the next map will fill in so you can keep going.

This site has a map of counties in all states. Just click on the state. I've used this when I went from Little Rock to Kansas City for a trip and just loaded up all the counties and cities along my route. Loaded up 25 counties maybe and took about 800k.

The bad thing about the map companion software you have to do a lot of planning to get right info. The good thing is they don't take up a lot of space.
