-- What's the coolest thing you do with your Visor? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=12431)
Just curious. After three years using Palm OS/WIN CE devices, I find myself always gravitating back to the meat and potatos Datebk4 and Memo Pad. I can do my banking on the web (I'm always at my desk) so I don't need account management on the handheld; I tried digital photo albums with the IPAQ but never looked at the pix once they were loaded; I did MP3 on the IPAQ but it was too bulky (Rio 500 much easier to carry); tried Word Processing on the Palm with ThinkOutside portable keyboard but screen too small and features too limited; I've been thinking that some photography tools might be useful for me: exposure calculation and such, but I haven't investigated any yet.
So, anyway, the question: What's the coolest thing you do with your Visor?

No more three ring binders
Not sure of the "coolness" factor, but one of the first apps I acquired was Documents To Go. Now I carry all of the Word support documents and spreadsheets in the Visor to use in supporting my company's systems.
One of the coolest things I've done so far was to build a PQA that let me add blog entries to my web site via my Motorola StarTAC/datacable connection
Perfect for pounding something out on the stowaway at a coffee house and putting it live immediately. Not really of much interest to anyone but me, but I do love the huge amount of utility a wireless connection adds to the Visor

I have a Prism and an Eyemodule2. Sounds like fun..? Well, I've been taking lot's of pictures of places and people without been noticed
I feel like a spy or a James Bond. I guess this is my favorite outdoors toy.

PS. hey, I almost forgot, see the picture on the left?
That is my school, Brooklyn College, I took it with my eyemodule2

Cool or Geeky?
I'd class this as cool, others may disagree.
Picking up e-mail and surfing the web whilst sitting in a pub/cafe, using just my Vdx and Nokia 6210.

more details about blog?
Usonian,
Could you provide more details about using the Visor over cell to post to websites? That sounds cool.
Also, re: acagigas eyemodule post, I never thought about the spy aspect of the camera -- I just figured I'd never need a digicam for my PDA b/c the quality would never match what I'd get with a regular digicam. Now, I see...who will know you've got a digicam on your Visor when your tapping away? I'd certainly classify that as cool.
Startac to Visor connection???? Usonian?
Usonian,
Wow! How can you hook up a Visor to a Startac phone? Is there a web site or something that has the info?
Enquiring minds want to know!
thanks!
The picture quality of the eymodule2 depends on 3 things to get the best VGA quality:
1. You need light, if it is white or outdoor light, then you got the basic step.
2. Don't move the eyemodule while taking pictures. The more steady the better.
3. Your subject should not move to get the best quality. I found out that it might be ok if it moves at a constant speed, like walking, speaking, or writing.
When I get home from work, sometimes I tell my wife how nice my boss is sometimes. Then, my wife used to say, "I wish I knew who she is." However, after buying my eyemodule2 this wish came true.

I took this picture while I was walking by her office, I didn't get a chance to look at the screen, I just aimed at her and shot calculating the angle of the eyemodule.
Sounds like fun?
Al
PS. This picture hasn't been edited only cut to make it fit and load better in this post.

Cool things:

I was at a convention last week in San Antonio. Attached my Prism to the Stowaway Keyboard, inserted the Visor modem, plugged in to the jack by the phone and using AOL was IM'ing with my 11 year old son in New York, and my 13 year old daughter on vacation in Florida. Boy were they impressed.

Coolest thing: Converting everything I can find to iSilo docs.
I'm a techie, so everything I need to reference is on a website somewhere. iSiloWeb, sync, all done. Now I can carry every reference doc I need on my hip.
I went and paid for iSilo because you can't Visor-ize websites sitting behind a firewall with AvantGo. I even have an AvantGo like service using Windows "Task Scheduler" to run iSiloWeb against a few of my daily websites. And some day I'll be moving this all to Linux, and AvantGo can't do that either (but iSilo can).
Now all I need is a good movie listing website that I can access with iSilo... anyone? Hollywood.com is not functioning any more. DigitalCities and Moviephone require a login and cookie.

I think this is pretty cool, but my students don't.
When students mess around in my class. I just popup a student disciplin report (memo plus template)and fill it out. Then I beam the report to the teachers printer and Voila!. The other teachers are amazed.

EyeModule
Are you saying that you take photos with the Visor using something called an EyeModule? Does it have to be the Prism or will it work with the Platinum? I've not purchased a PDA yet but am about to and was considering the Platinum. OT: where do you find the best prices?
Used the Visor as a hockey puck..
(just kidding
... I couldn't resist)

It's probably not cool, but I take my Visor with me to the coffeeshop where I read the NY Times and make memos of everything of interest I see in the paper - new movies or books, science & law articles (my fields), historical notes, etc. Then I never have to say to myself: "I saw something about that in the paper recently. . ." Not cool, right?
Not terribly cool, but...
This isn't terribly cool, but it still freaks my colleagues out when I take our minutes with my Stowaway Keyboard and Visor Deluxe. (Like me, most of them have stopped lugging around their 7 lb laptops to the meetings.)
I was in the car with a friend of mine, and his parents, and there was an argument over which highway to take inorder to get to where we were going. So, I whipped out my Prism, stuck in the Magellan, 30 seconds later, I knew where I was, 30 seconds after that, I had worked out the right highway to take, the exit, and the roads.
They were pretty amazed at how fast, and simple the whole thing was... which I thought was pretty cool. the good thing was that they were both wrong, so without it, we might still be driving around.
