-- I Just got off the phone w/ a CSR and ... (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=225)
I originally ordered on 9/14 as many of us did, and decided today to change to overnight shipping. No problem, the CSR pulled me up in the computer and it was done.
When I asked about a ship date, I was told 10/31, yes Halloween. Scary isn't it! I HOPE she was wrong.
Unfortunately, you are probably right! Despite what we have heard that the Visors will ship "very soon", the D-day may now not be until later this month.
Let's not get our hackles up. As many people have been saying, the CSR's that you talk to are not Handspring CSR's. They are working for some other company who Handspring hired to provide CS. They have not historically been well informed, though they're getting better. Also, their answers to questions about shipping dates have always been contradictory. Basically, only God knows precisely when they're going to ship.
"Basically, only God knows precisely when they're going to ship."
... and Jeff Hawkins. Or is that who you meant?
Anyway, even if they don't ship until 10/31, they'll still be "shipping in October". <shrug>
After seeing that amjohns was able to change to overnight shipping I decided to try again to call CS and ask to change to overnight and add a USB cable (I tried this on Wednesday). I was told, after holding while the CSR checked, that she could not bring up my order but could take the info and try to get the change made. When questioned as to why she couldn't find my info I was told, again, that the early orders are not on the computer and had been sent to the warehouse to be shipped.
Just though you'ld like to know...
I don't think they'll ship on October 31 since it's a Sunday.
Does UPS pick up on Sundays?
Well, it looks like they're getting slammed with orders. I ordered mine in the early afternoon yesterday, and my order number was 100799-2400 (not actually 2400, but around there somewhere). That leads me to believe they had at least 2400 orders online yesterday, despite their server problems. Wow.

My original e-mail message from Handspring on 9/14 says that the Visor was "available for order but not available to be shipped for thirty days." I received the e-mail in response to my question to them about on-line ordering.
I have tried many times in the last 2 days to order a visor, but have been unsuccessful. It's been extremely frustrating. Is there a number I can call to place my order rather than ordering online?
The number I used was 888-565-9393. I don't know if it still works.
If all early orders were sent out of the system, now I wonder whether mine got goofed up, because I ordered 9/14 too. OR, the ordering CSR are just FUBAR
When I changed my Visor color from blue to batman black (I decided against the Palmboy option, too much attention for the wrong reason!), the CSR told me that they would be shipping BY October 31, not ON October 31.
It makes sense; with all of this "When will I get my Visor" hubbub, and the party line that it will ship in October, they're probably just stating the obvious:
You'll get your darn Visor this month.

I was at Internet World on Friday (they had a very impressive and popular booth) and the reps there stated that shipping would begin in a "couple of weeks" Nothing has shipped and will be shipped for at least another week. Sorry guys.
I was lucky enough to win one at the show. They were giving a few away each hour by drawing a name from those who provided information to Handspring.

Nobody's listening to this forum. Most of us have come to the agreement that the CSR's don't have accurate information. Especially, one that is working on a Saturday night and is taking phone calls at 1:00AM East Coast time where they are located.
If you really want to be certain about when your Visor is shipping wait for it via UPS or whatever the method will be....are we certain it's UPS?
One post to this forum quoted a CSR as the unit will ship on October 31st...Halloween and a Sunday to boot. Not from Fremont CA, those people don't work Sundays in shipping departments not since our illustrious Gov. Gray Davis passed or rescended the any combination of 40 hours considered a normal work week. Davis states that in an effort to keep unions from destroying the labor force in CA that Sundays are time and a half for most work forces. Oops! got off the subject.
Well, I guess I'm allowed to wonder a bit since I don't have my Visor D yet nor my cases and now the online store is off line and I'm going through withdrawls since I don't have my Visor yet.
Here's an idea...let's all call CSR at one time and see how many different responses we get from them.
Handsprung...you can post the time (or send us all an email) for all of us to call. Then we can overload this web site with the responses and then the Handspring site won't be bombarded and their administrator can get it back on line.
Also, I'm still waiting for your debit card number so that I can watch and see when your unit ships.....

Halloween is my birthday so I'm hoping it arrives by then.
Mine's on the 28th so I want mine two days earlier than you. :-)
Arg. I was just on the phone with a CSR to add a belt clip to my order, and she couldn't add it while the site was down. She said to call back in a few days. She also said that there was no chance that my order would be sent to the warehouse prior to the site coming back online, so I didn't have to worry about having the clip shipped seperately (for more $$).
I'm leaning towards her being completely wrong here (from prior CSR encounters), but if this is true it means that NO orders are being processed for shipping while the site is down. The fact that the ship date appears to be slipping from that which was orignally announced in the IW PR would lend some credence to this.
I apologize for contributing to Rumor Mill(R). It's probably just another uninformed CSR ad libbing, but I thought I would just let everyone know.

Am I the only person who interprets "sometime in October" as sometime in October?
The time to start whining is November 1. Happy Halloween
I don't care when it ships - I just want them to process my colour change (to graphite). I phoned twice and got the same response both times - "I'll write it out on a piece of paper as your order is not on the computer".
Why didn't he make the change on his visor? Or does he have to wait until Oct 31?
rsgmoose:
I didn't call when I made that post, I called last week (Thurs. afternoon, I think). I just posted the results at 1:00 a.m. ET this morning.
My point was not "My CSR disagrees with your CSR," but rather it is that they are saying that they will ship NO LATER THAN October 31, that is to say, sometime during the month of October as they have always said for quite awhile now.
Put differently, yeah, relax, you'll get your Visor. Although I am also excited to get my Deluxe, I have to say that we all need to take a step back and put this in perspective. I'm assuming that all of us who have ordered a Visor probably have everything that we NEED in order to live. It's not like any of us is going to die if we don't get our Visors this week!
Not only that, but calling CSR's to pester them like a kid in the car asking every two minutes, "When are we going to get there?" is more than a little ridiculous. Perspective is what I'm talking about.
In other words, just chill out folks! Relax!
