The one I had were those gotten a few weeks after the 911 attacks on America...

So, I would appreciate any help here. The kopsis website don't state much, or I could have missed it.

THanks a lot.

Thanks!

but I can't seem to get my 2nd module working
I still can't run files off it (not again!)

Maybe I'll try again when my Prism comes...

What's your setup now? Are you sure you downloaded the right software--there's separate software for the Matchbook and the flashplus... You should be able to run stuff just fine with any visor... can you be more specific wrt your problem?

Is the FlashPlus (NOT the matchbook one) work with a Deluxe (OS 3.1)??

If not, then maybe when I get my Prism tomorrow, I'll try it out

Thanks dietrichbohn

so far as I know, yes. What are your symptoms? I'm thinking that simply plugging it into an 0S3.5 device instead of an OS3.1 device won't fix your problem, and I'd hate for your new prism experience to be tarnished in that way. can you tell me exactly what works and what doesn't?

okok.

First of all, the most important thing is the CF card itself. It's made by SanDisk and I've had no problems using it with the original CF Adapter.

And when I plug the FlashPlus (w/ CF) into my Deluxe, I see the following apps in my launcher:
-gMovie
-PiBackup
-PiDirect
-PiMover
-PiPrefs
-PiViewer

And when I start PiDirect, it says "System Version 3.5 or greater" is needed.
When I run PiMover/PiViewer, it says that "Memory card is not formated, Process to format?" and gives me a Yes/No option
And for PiBackup, it's reads "Err #FFFF8005: Card is not formatted or in incompatible format".

for gMovie, PiPrefs, they are able to run.

SO, now, the question I'm asking, how do I solve the above 'problems" and start moving my files to the CF and run them off it?

Thanks again

Are you using FlashPlus or a MemPlug? These are not Kopsis apps, but Pi apps. I don't think the software is interchangeable, you need the apps that match your hardware.

Well, it is the case that PiDirect needs OS 3.5. So if you are, in fact, using a MemPlug, the Prism may indeed fix most of your problems...

...Unfortunately, I know extremely little about the memplug.. if that's what you've got, maybe post a thread with "Memplug" in the title and you'll get some help from experts.

...if you have a FlashPlus, however, you'll need to clear that software off of it and reinstall the kopsis software..

Ok dude
No, you're not being demanding I simply love VC for all the friendly people here and all that I've learnt

And no, I'm using a FLASHPLUS... it's the one made by InnoPocket.

Erm, what software do I have clear off my Deluxe? Those Pi apps that I mentioned in my earlier post are LOADED automatically when I insert the FlashPlus into my Visor.

Erm, do you have a copy of the kopsis software by any chance? I figured I lost the password to download it...

Thanks again
Andre.

PS: Where's the President of Kopsis when you need him?

Odd, sounds like somebody loaded the MemPlug software onto your Innopocket. I don't know if that could work, or if it's some sort of hack job (i.e. the flashplus is nice, but I like the Pi software better, so I'm loaded that on there instead.) If you want to keep the MemPlug software on there, you should talk to the person who loaded it on (i.e. the person you bought it from).

Otherwise (and this is what I would do), email Dave at Kopsis ([email protected]) and tell him that A)You don't have the password that goes with your FlashPlus and B)You'd like help unloading the software that's currently on the FlashPlus and installing his software.

You should not unload any software on your Deluxe, this strictly has to do with your FlashPlus.

And I forgot the most important part. When you get the FlashAdapter software loaded on from Kopsis, go to the Yahoo Groups for the best support for it:

Thanks man.
You've been a great help so far

I'll ask the seller how the software got onto my module first.

Then, I'll most probably email David (again). The last time I emailed him was when I ran into problems with my faulty module that I was sent for review (SPUG.org)

And another question.
I've used normal 8MB and 16MB Flash Springboards (those by Handspring and Hagiwara Sys), and moving files to them is very easy.
But how do I do it using the FlashPlus? (Provided that I solve ALL the problems above in this thread.)
Do I use PiDirect or PiMover, or just use FAFileMover (from my previous CF adapter) to move and copy files?

Or maybe LaunchPlug.com will be of great help

Anyway, thanks again dietrichbohn I'll post here again once I get some answers.

PS: I'm in Singapore, so it's a Monday morning for me... now is about 10mins to 06:00am here

Well, a couple of issues here:

1) if you reinstall the FlashAdapter software from Kopsis, you won't have any of the Pi software, so that's a nonissue.
2) the difference between the 8 and 16 meg flash modules and the flashplus is a little complicated. the FlashPlus essentially acts like a disk drive, using a Virtual File System (called VFS) to load and unload apps. the Hagiwara/handspring modules have actual flash RAM, so they act just like more RAM on your Visor.

all of which means you need to have a little software help to run stuff off of a CF card on the FlashPlus (this is where VFS comes in), while you don't really on the RAM cards.

...the complicated part is your FlashPlus card contains about 1 meg of RAM just like the Hagiwara/Handspring cards, this is where the VFS "helper" software is stored. Kopsis has created a VFS app called VFS Helper. the instructions that Dave will send to you will explain this better than I can.

Suffice it to say that you'll be using FAFileMover to move apps and VFS enabled software to run apps.

This looks like it's just a rebranded version of Launcher III from Benc Software. I would just launcher III instead of LaunchPlug so you have more support from the actual developer.

Launcher III is a launcher that utilized VFS to run stuff off of your card.

I would really love to know how the Portable Innovation Software got on there. That is just crazy.

As for LaunchPlug.com, it is great site for information on the MemPlug used in conjunction with LauncherIII.

Good luck getting everything worked out. I am sure Dave can help.

Hey Andre,

Sorry for the late reply, but I moved to a new office Friday and I'm just now getting caught up.

As for the PIT apps on your FlashPlus ... PIT has a *major* bug in thier ModuleUpdater app that will allow it to install the software to modules other than the MemPlug without any warning that it will not work and that it will destroy the existing module software.

Fortunately, it sounds like you figured out how to get the FlashAdapter software loaded back on. If anyone else runs into this problem, the FAQ on our website explains how to fix it.

Now, for running apps from CF you'll need the latest (3.5) release of LauncherIII or the latest version of SilverScreen or MegaLauncher 3. You'll also need to have a "PALM" directory in the root dir of your CF card. Under the PALM directory you need to have a "Launcher" directory. If you're using FAFileMover, you can't create both directories in one step. You need to create the PALM directory first then go into there and create the Launcher directory. Note that directory names are not case sensitive so "PALM" = "Palm" = "palm". Last but not least, you need to make sure that you have VFSHelper enabled and working. Run VFSHelper and tap the "Enable" button. The status message in VFSHelper should indicate "Enabled - card found".

Once you have "/PALM/Launcher" created you can use the launcher itself to move apps to the CF card. In LauncherIII simply drag the app icon to the "card" gadget at the bottom of the screen. Select "move" from the pop-up and the app will be moved to CF. Depending on how you have LIII set up, you may need to manually refresh the apps from the LIII menu. Your app should show up with a little card symbol in the icon's lower right corner. Tap the icon and your app will load and run from the CF card.

You may also want to take a look at the User's Manual that comes with the FlashAdapter software you downloaded. All this and more is explained in there.

My thoughts exactly--There's a lot of work put into that manual and it does a better job than I could explaining it all.

Dave, can you e-mail me the FlashAdapter files? here

The one you sent me in the past were the Sept 19 2001 versions.

Thanks
Andre.
