Unhappy

I'm not sure what to think...

I ordered my VDx on Sept. 16th, 1999. I called a couple of weeks ago and requested express shipping.

I called two times. The first, they said that it shipped yesterday, after that, they said it will ship Tuesday. Kinda sucks.

Anyone know any concrete information? I wish Handpsring would tell us, just so we didn't have to wonder!

No charges yet and I'm surprised. I ordered mine about 9:30AM CST on 09/14.

Card charges? If your card hasn't been charged yet and you ordered on 9/14 don't necessarily worry. Handsprung's card was a debit card versus a true Master Card or Visa. Certain banks may not post there charges right away. Debit cards nearly post immediately because it's a withdrawl rather than a charge.

The good news is that they are shipping. They will correctly tell those who did not order on the 14th that it will be 4 to 6 weeks. If you get it long before that then you'll be happy...if they have unforseen problems and it takes them that long to get it to you then Handspring is still politically correct.

My credit card has not been "charged" yet but there was an authorization request for about the amount...this indicates that Handspring's shipper checked to verify but hasn't billed. Odds are you could actually not see a billing until Monday or Tuesday and the unit still shipped on Friday.

My guess is they shipped a handful of units on Friday with many more shipping on Monday. That post was late in the day. Heck, UPS might not have been able to pick up many of the units since it's the first day shipping.

I doubt that anyone will recieve there unit on Saturday that paid for Next Day shipping because Saturday is extra beyond that.

Most of us should recieve our units by the end of next week that ordered on 9/14.

Mine's a debit card too and the bank specifically notes.

in reference to the balance. Has anybody tried correlating color into this? Blue here.

I just got off the phone with handspring.
they said that any order placed in september
can't be changed because it is shipped or in the warehouse packaged to be shipped.
also by the way, my wait on te phone was 10 to fifteen minutes. She sid I should get in ten days for standard shipping. I had wanted to change the color but I rather have niow any color.

I too just got off the phone with a CSR and learned that my VD is on its way...sort of. She didn't actually confirm the order, she just said that all the 9/14 orders had shipped. The reason for my call was that I wanted to change credit cards and she said it was too late. Oh well, good news/bad news. I can't wait!

LAst week I almost jumped ship, but thanks to the 38 minute wait for CSR I decided not to switch to the cheap PAlm IIIx at Buy.com. My buddy did and he paid $240 with tax and shipping. Anyway, I called today to see if my 9/23 order was anywhere close to shipping and they said it shipped. They also told me that it shipped standard ground UPS. Though they could not give me a tracking number (problematic) UPS' site said that I could expect a shipment from HS in Boston 6 business days from today. October 26 couldn't come fast enough, and it is well within the 4-6 week time span. See what a long wait on hold can do. Can't wait to post questions on how to fix the darn thing once it starts giving me problems on the 27th.

Well, according to the CSR I talked to, mine is in the next shipment to go out. I wanted to add a pack of styli to my order, but she couldn't since she it was too close to the ship date. 4 days by UPS Ground, whee...

Well, I just got off the phone with a CSR, and he confirmed my Visor shipped yesterday. He even gave me the exact time the package left the dock!

I'm soo happy I could...cry! In fact this mark is a TEAR(*)

Happy Visors to everyone.

On 9/23 at about 1PM CST.

I'll note here that I'd called HS twice before to check on my order and they couldn't find it. This time they put me on hold for about 5 minutes and came back and asked me my phone number. I told the CST that I wanted to confirm the order since I hadn't gotten the email confirmation. I read her my address and credit card number and she confirmed my order (VD in graphite) and told me that it was in the second batch of shipments, the next to go out. Given that she couldn't include a pack of styli in that shipment, I'd say it was going to roll out of there sometime early next week. UPS Ground to me is 4 business days from Mountain View, CA, so I should have it around 10/25, a week from this coming Monday. Just in time for my birthday, wheee!

Gene,

Did you order between 9/14-9/17? Handspring did not supply me with a UPS tracking number, but did inform me as to what time of the day on Friday it left.

According to my online statement, AND a call to the bank (5 minutes ago) shows that my card has not been charged yet, but Mindspring is telling me it shipped on Friday. If this is true I am expecting my Visor on Monday or Tuesday.

We shall see how long it takes to charge the card.

About the charges on cards-I just called my bank to see if they had charged my debit-and they had-for 270 whatever, and it was just charged today. I ordered mine late on the 16th-and I ordered blue -anyways Im patiently waiting for it-

Ha! I knew that eventually someone would write "MINDspring". But you gotta especially love the ironic twist of the user's name. HANDspring!

Thumbs up

I just checked my online statement for my mastercard and the handspring was charged...good news considering I was getting cryptic responses from the csr. They would not have charged me if they didnt ship it yet would they?

foo fighter,

I ordered on the 14th. What is the name of the company that is showing up on people's credit cards? I called mine and there was a charge for ~$320 from a direct something company.

Hi Eric, have you read my post to your reply in "$162..."topic?
I want to say I really hope you get your Visor. but I would feel bad as I know you will hate its size a few weeks after.
How can you buy something you have not even seen? a palmIII is not a Visor. Do your research bad boy.
