Aaaaahhh... much better.

BTW, you have a dead link on your website. On this page:
http://www.flipcover.com/info/info.htm
there is a link under 'retrofittable design' called more info that points to:
http://www.flipcover.com/adapter/adapter.htm
which cannot be found.

I am very glad to see that you are making the individual components for your covers available. I swap out faceplates on my phone fairly often, and I think it'll be cool to be able to easily and cheaply keep my visor matching...

Lightbulb Ice FLip Cover for Prism

Get the Ice Flip Cover out for the Prism soon!! The ice cover would look much better on the Prism than the black cover -- yuck!

Ice Prism FlipCover

If you're anxious to get a Prism ice now you can buy custom color components ...

At our site you can buy a black Prism hinge, Ice cover, and Ice module. Later when we have Ice Prism hinges available you can order that component seperately.

There is a small premium for ordering custom components because we have to hand pick, assemble, and package each FlipCover as opposed to our manufacturer doing it for us.

Cool WOW!

I'll give you my $0.02, The flip cover ROCKS! I ordered both a flip-lid from Tactilis, and a flip cover. The flip-lid was the first I received and I used it religiously until I received my flip cover. The flip lid was a good temporary solution. However, it slips off over time and it is a little bulky and doesn't fit well on the bottom. Caveat I know this is a palm repo lid and the actual flip lid is supposed to be better. I personally don't like leather cases due to the bulk. I prefer a hard cover. I received my flip cover the other day and I just can't believe how well it fits. Although the standard visor lid sucks, it does fit very well and is not bulky. The flip cover fits almost identical except it flips all the way to the back. And the hinge is extremely sturdy. I have been very envious of the m-100 lid and this cures that envy. The ONLY negative comment I have is the module one everybody makes. However, I consider the flip cover a non-electronic module. When I'm not using a module, I'll use my flip cover. When I need a module, I'll switch to the flip-lid. For the person who thought it would snap onto the back, don't you think that would require a forward facing clip on the front? I think that would be kind of annoying. I'll stop now. What an awesome product!

Red face

i agree that the flipcover is a great product and affordable. my wife has one on her deluxe and i have been waiting for the adapter for my prism. i would like to put one on all my modules, but at 5 bucks a pop plus shipping it seems a little out of line with their other prices. perhaps this little piece of plastic presented some tooling nightmare or the distributor reamed them on the adhesive strips.
i bought one for now, but i will wait and see if they become more affordable before i stick one on all my modules. if the price doesn't go down, i'll stick with my tactilis. it works with all my modules, oversize or not.

I guess this is similar to the flip cover that is included with the edge -- you need to take it out to insert springboard modules.

By the way, are there any plans to release truly clear (i.e. see through) covers, or black covers with a clear
window a la Palm m10x? It would be pretty cool to be able to read alarm dialogs, etc. without flipping open
your cover.

Each adapter is being hand cut, sanded, and assembled in order to get these out the door faster. That's why the prices are so steep.

We haven't finished the tooling for these becasue getting that adhesive on is a nightmare. In the mean time we will post a do-it-yourself page on our site showing how you can convert your existing flipcover module into an adapter.

As you can see we are aware of the price. Eventually we'd like to get these down to around two bucks. For now we're have free shipping on adapters to help ease the pain

Arrow No solution

There is still no acceptable solution for the Prism. I think the black voer would look disgusting on the Prism. The ice cover would fit a lot better. But they have no ice cover solution. You can get a piece-mael solution, but the hinge is still black.

Question oversized module adapter....?

This is in response to Flipcover's comment on 3-17....

"sbuchholz - Next week we'll be accepting orders on our current adapter and will be announcing a new adapter that will work with ALL oversized modules ... There won't be a need to switch out the flipcover anymore"

It's next week now.... where is the annoucement for the adapter for oversized modules?

Is it in production yet?

Unhappy Standard Adapter

I just received my FlipCover and standard module adapter. The adapter and the top of my standard module are NOT the same size. The adapter sort of hangs off the edge. I'm not sure what kind of adhesive it uses, but I don't think I can lay the Visor on its back with the adapter in place. It might stay attached, but I'm just going to lay it face down.

Otherwise, the FlipCover is pretty good. I do, however, see some space between the cover and Visor where dust might get in. I think the standard Handspring cover has the same space.

Lightbulb new use for flipcover adapter

what i did was stick the adapter to the top of my prism. i then used a hinge for the regular visor and attached the cover. it works quite well and the springboard slot is still usable (but not with oversized modules). when you put the adapter on, you put it on with the hinges flush with the sb slot. i then used a dremel to file down the surface in front of the hinges so the cover would seat properly. it works fine. it cost me the price of an adapter and an extra hinge, but it works. also, the flipcover won't rest against the back if you do this.

p.s. flipcover should be coming out with an adapter that doesn't interfere with the sb slot, so wait for it unless you are as impatient as i.

Thumbs up flip cover - standard adapter

I just received my FlipCover Standard Adapter. This is the model designed for users of standard-sized springboards.

Appearance:
Excellent.
I chose the blue cover so it would match my Nokia phone. It is more transparent than I expected (from examining the photos on the website), but that is not a bad thing. The only complication that I had was that I spent about 5 minutes trying to clean a smudge off of the outside of the cover that turned out to be on the inside. Oops! The hinge matches the color of the cover perfectly. The anchor is black and is textured exactly like the graphite case (which I have).

This cover has four little 'legs' (like the original clip-on cover has) to help prevent scratches.

The hinge and cover are easily removeable which will allow us vain types to have multiple colors!

Installation:
Easy as pie.
All you do is clip the cover on, align the anchor, peel off the backing on the adhesive and press it into place. The only difficulty I had was removing the backing... I don't have decent fingernails!

Fit:
Tight!
The cover fits flush around all edges, and hooks over he top and bottom. The bottom clips snugly into place. Holding it up to a light, I could see no real gap between the cover and the Visor... I could slide a piece of paper carefully inbetween, but could not slide in a business card. My original equipment cover was very loose; I could slide several business cards inbetween the cover and the body of the Visor.

The anchor is shaped to perfectly match the top of a Springboard (in my case, a 8MB flash module). At a glance, you can't even tell it is there. Upon close examination, you can see that it is not part of the Springboard, but that does not detract from the Visor's appearance in any way. The adhesive used is quite impressive. I dangled my Visor by the cover with no problems at all. I even got brave and swung it in a vertical loop at arm's length... again, no loosening. I then pulled on it hard enough that my Springboard started coming out; at which point I was satisfied that it was not going to come loose anytime soon.

The whole cover increases the length of the Visor by about 2 mm (compared to the original clip-on cover).

Price:
$16.55, including shipping. I received it exactly a week after ordering it.

Complaint:
Too bad these were not available sooner!

I am still ticked off that they don't have a nice solution for my Prism.

Arrow Some answers

"There is still no acceptable solution for the Prism ..."

If you don't like the black, I still would highly reccommend getting the 'piece-meal' solution. In the mean time get the ice cover and module and black Prism hinge. Ice Prism hinges are on order from our manufacturer, but they will take a few weeks to get in stock. When they get here, for $3 (includes shipping) you can get the ice Prism hinge so your cover won't be piece meal anymore.

"It's next week now.... where is the annoucement for the adapter for oversized modules?"

Last week we had an unfortunate event, where all of our Prism orders got delayed due to some mis-packaged Prism FlipCovers. We spent last week scrambling to get the orders out in time and correct mistakes. We will try to get that announcement out this week as well as give our site a new face-lift.

"The adapter sort of hangs off the edge"

The adapter should be the same exact size of your module. Make sure that you didn't stick it on too far to the back, leaving a gap in the front. Your adapter should work like ThirdMan described above.

"what i did was stick the adapter to the top of my prism"

COOL IDEA!!!

Exclamation

FLIPCOVER IS AWESOME!!!! I received an email from Zee about our discussion on the colors not matching the Visor DLX colors.

The "Stand-Up" guy that he is, he is taking care of my issue. All companies should stand behind their product as Zee of FlipCover does.

This is the one and only cover for Handspring Devices!!!!!

Keep up the good work Zee.

No matter how I position and orient the adapter, it is not the exact same size as the module. If I moved it closer to the front, I won't be able to push the module in. Could this be a bad piece? I read that these were done by hand.
