I thought that Handspring has a 30 day return policy. I if you really like the Edge, return the Platinum and drop $100 more and you're on the "cutting Edge"!! ha ha couldn't resist!

Wink

If I owned any other Visor model other than the Prism, I would be buying the Edge today. Once you have color it's hard to go back. I can only hope that when Palm releases the M505 that Handspring will counter with a "twist" of their own.

Screen does have a different look!

I have seen the Edge screen and it does look quite a bit different from the other Handspring screens (more of a gray tint). I am unsure whether or not it's a better screen, however.

I'm with Mich - I like the look and size of the Edge (although I'd want to actually hold it in my hand to be sure), but it would be too difficult to give up color at this point. I'm stuck with my Prism.

It's true, I don't want to give up my prism too!
but I like the edge model.
I'll wait until HS release the color version

I'll wait - form factor over functionality just isn't enough of a draw at this time. I want to see additional memory and better color.

i think the best idea is to look and see what the m50x series has to offer, id probably be an idiot to pass up something that has 16mb RAM and a flashable palmOS 4.0 for about the same price

I think I'll pass on the Edge. It just doesn't seem to be worth the investment, and I can't justify the expense. My only complaint with my VDX is that I would like color (the Prism was not yet available when I made my purchase). <shrug>

My company is ordering 4 (1 Silver, 2 Blue and 1 Red) ... and one is for me! (Who knows when the CLIE will be available here ... the EDGE is just fine until then or until something better shows up.)

I can't wait.

For anyone that is going to get the Edge, there is a website called ebates.com that may interest you. Handspring offers a 5% rebate on all purchases made from their website. All you have to do is find the section on Computer and Electronics. Then you want to click on Handspring. It will take you directly to the Handspring website where you can make your order. Ebates will then track the purchase and send you a check at the end of the quarter. Hey, it's a $20 savings if you want to Edge. Enjoy!

I don't think the customer should expect that type of service, I mean we all know that technology is advancing at a rapid pace. Today's products will be obsolete in six months. When we decide to invest in a PDA (Palm or Handspring), it has become buy at our own risk because we all know that a new and better product is on the horizon. Like I said, we all went in knowing the risk.

Sure, Handspring's decision whether to make such an offer should be based only on profitability... but it would be interesting to see what the impact would be on sales, profit and customer loyalty if they did offer some kind of deal like 'swap in a VDX less than a year old and get $100 off the Edge'. Sure there will always be those who would buy the latest model anyway, but there are also those, like me, for whom the cost isn't justified (tempting tho' it may be!). And I'd just love to see them offer a 'trade in your Palm and get $100 off the Visor of your choice' or something. I just think it would be interesting to see the long-term profitability/market share impact....

Just got an edge today. Now before you all say that it was stupid to get it now... i was able to get a $100 rebate because of a promotion that apple computer is currently running. Buy a mac, get various discounts on other products like certain digital video cameras, printers, and the edge. I don't need color anyway, and for $199 a B&W edge was just too good of a deal to pass up.

Thumbs up I own an edge and....

The screen on my edge is much nicer than on my original visor. Even my brother noticed as soon as he walked up. It is crisper and much less green, both very good things. The backlight is also much better. I have compared them side by side and I must say that the edge has the edge on my orig. visor. The aluminum casing also feels so much stronger than the plastic of all the other visors. I HIGHLY recommend the Edge, and at only $299 shipped (or check dealnews and do a search for amazon, you should get a coupon code that takes $15 off of any order over 100). That brings the price down to $284, not eff'n bad! EVERYONE GET THE EDGE!!

Arrow Edge Screen looks better to me--

Definitely, I find the Edge screen to be clearer then the Platinum. More of a grey and less green.

I guess I'm the only one who likes these backlights ---maybe I just don't know any better --Only owned visors --but looking at the other units M500 M505 etc in stores -I'm not impressed with theirs either. I only use my backlight to read in the dark ---kind of a book light -- and it works fantastic for that purpose.

Happy with Cool Blue Edge

I'm really happy with my cool blue edge. It works great! I use a Visorphone with as well as the Magellan GPS and the InnoPocket FlashPlus adapter.

I only have one complaint - NO KEYBOARD. So, it looks like I'll be using my Newton again. Hey, I need a way to quickly do data entry - at least with my Newt I have a choice of my keyboard or using my normal handwriting. Now that there's a data exchange program for the Newton I can beam info back and forth between the Newt and the Edge. That way I can keep all of my contacts on my Edge and any data I happen to collect on my Newton will still make it back to the Edge.. :-)

Life is goooooood thanks to technology.

Edge keyboard--(Targus)

According to a recent e-mail from TARGUS, the edge stowaway keyboard will be out in late October or early November---

This is based on a thread in the Edge section of this board--

Sure.. and they keep pushing the date back more and more. First it was August, then September, and now November? God only knows why they're doing it, but at this rate I'm not going to be *buying* a keyboard...

Question Color Edge?

Just wondering if any one has heard rumors of a color Edge yet? I also love my Prism, but it would be great if there were a color version 1/4 of the thickness. Please let me know if I should wait longer.

Mike
