Angry

I upgraded from Win 98 SE to Windows 2000 (I can boot to either) but I can't get the Hotsync to work. I downloaded the USB registry fix, ran it, then reinstalled the desktop software. I still get no response when I try to sync.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Did you download the Win2K drivers from Handspring? I use Win2k and have no problems at all.

I downloaded and ran the Visor USB Registry Utility, but that's all I could find. Could you post the URL to the Win 2000 drivers? I've searched and searched, but can't find them.

Sure thing ...

http://www.handspring.com/support/t..._download.jhtml

Then after entering your serial number (on inside of the battery cover) you will be shown a list of the links for the DeskTop software. (I am currently using 3.01, but 3.1 is now available.) This software supports W2K, the software that came with the Visor originally did not.

Thanks. I forgot to mention that I downloaded and installed that, too. I installed it over the existing software. Tonight I'll try doing a clean install.

I don't know what it is, but I run into this problem fairly often. Solution is to backup Visor on backup module, hard reset, restore visor, then the flash works.

There is no need to reinstall the desktop software.

I finally fixed the problem. I'm not sure exactly what did it, either. I booted into Win 98, and couldn't hotsync there either. For about the 6th time, I disconnected all USB cables, rebooted, then reconnected them. This fixed it in Win 98.

I booted into Win 2000 and did the same thing. This time, Win 2000 recognized the Visor and the hotsync worked. I copied my address, date book etc. files into the desktop software and did another hotsync. Everything works fine now.

Thanks for the help!!
