Angry

Today when i turned my visor platinum on, (after no dropping, etc.) It did not work. I took out the batteries for 40 min, tried a traditional hard reset. These vertical lines ARE ALWAYS THERE whenever batteries are in the visor. I can not get any data, nor access the desktop. Does anybody know ANY other way to perform a hard reset or ANY other solution to my problem? Thanks!

On two seperate occasions I have had problems with my Prism which neither a soft nor hard reset fixed. My solution both times was to open the case and disconnect the battery connection from the batteries to the board for a few seconds. This is easily done and restored the unit to like-new performance both times.

Hope this helps

STOP! IF yo udo that you lose your warrenty!

Call Handspring up. Tell them your situtaion and within 3 days you'll have a New Visor. For free.

Please don't open up your Visor unless you reall know how.. It's SO easy to break the LCD connector cable on the Plat.

I wonder why then they include a screwdriver in the end of the stylus (unscrew the end you'll see it there)?

Nah, he's right. Opening up a unit (and damaging it) voids your warranty. It's easier to call Handspring if it's in warranty and get a replacement, rather than damaging a unit and getting charged for the repair.

Good advice miradu!

Even though I'm 99% sure they have no way of actually telling if the thing has been opened, maybe on the Edge but certainly not on Deluxes/Platinums.

Where I work they had Dell computers, a couple were upgraded or fixed and now whenever you turn them on the boot screen says something like "You Computer Case Has Been Previously Removed!". Another funny thing, and I know someone who got in trouble for this, the tech guys claim if you write on the computer's case with something permanent then it will void the warranty...

Based on past experience , they have never said anything to me.. But you do have to be very careful when playing around inside, it's potentially way to easy to break things. I wouldn't open it just for the heck of it, only if absolutely necessary.

If I remember corectly you can hide the message by going to the bios. Though, being the cynical type, I'm sure dell trace this as well...
