Question

One wierd thing... how come the FlashPlus recognises my 8MB CF card as only 701KB????

I'm using a Canon-SanDisk branded CF 8-megabyte card

Keep in mind that the FlashPlus gives you two types of flash you can use. There is the flash memory on the CF card, but there is also 1MB of flash memory in the adapter itself. Of that 1MB of built-in adapter memory, about 700KB is available for you to store applications and read-only databases if you wish. That memory works just like the flash on a Handspring 8MB flash module. You use FAMemManager for working with the adapter's built-in memory and FAFileMover for working with the memory on the CF card itself.

If you're seeing "701KB free" you're using a program that's looking at the adapter's built-in memory and not the CF card. To see how much space is used/free on the CF card run FAFileMover and tap the "info" button.

I happen to use a VDx with a FlashPlus & SilverScreen. SS seems to work fine for the VFS & launching apps off the card for me.

I have been turning off SS when I need to remove/replace the FlashPlus module or change batteries. I kept running into random fatal errors with the VFS...I'm not sure, but I think it kept writing a bad location in the lib. I had to hard reset then install an uncourrupted saved prefferences file, which worked for the first few times. The last time it didn't help so I just deleted the savedpreffs entirely before reinstalling everything. Working fine since then/for now.

Any chance of a FAT32 version for the Kopsis software? I'd really like to load file strait from the PC to the card.

Question Bug?

Found out that there's a problem.

After I create a folder in my CF using FAFileMover, I cannot delete it.

See Screenshot below.
Then I press Exit, and it brings me back to my root folder.

The directory you're trying to delete is (for some unknown reason) still in use by another application. Do a soft-reset and try the delete again. If that doesn't work, let me know.

FAFileMover (or the third-party file manager of your choice) should be able to move both .PRC and .PDB files to the CF card. However, if you want apps to be able to access the .PDB files directly from CF the app will either have to be VFS enabled or you'll need to use something like MSMount (if you have a Visor with OS 3.5.x).

You may also want to look at PowerRUN which will automate the process of moving apps and their associated .PDB files between RAM and CF. PowerRUN is slower than direct access solutions like MSMount and requires you to keep more RAM free, but it doesn't have any "read-only" restrictions on the .PDB files.
