sastian...

Can you give us an idea about price?

First of all sastian, I have to say thank you. If there is anything that I really miss from my IIIx, it is the flip cover. It looks like you have finally come up with the solution for a real flip cover for the visor.

Now I have two questions for you:
1.) have you had a chance to see if it is possible to use one of the your flip covers and the visor phone module?

2.) how is it that the flip clip is attached to the visor, I ask this because I carry my visor in my pants pocket and I want to make sure that it will stay attached when I pull it out of my pocket.

Thanks for making this great product and I hope that I get a chance to use it soon.

Joey

Yes we will be offering a version that will work with the phone module. we have found that there needs to be a slight modification which will be machined to the existing part. therefore the cost will be slightly more, but it will be available. In the future I suspect this to become a pemanent change to our mold.

Well, as my wife points out, "that depends on how tight your jeans are" ;') In a very tight pocket you can push the lid and clip off, but I've carried mine around in my jeans pocket for over a month without concern. I would say the clip comes off as easily as a module does, but it definitely stays in place.

First of all, let me join everyone else in welcoming you back from the hospital -- glad you're back on your feet! Second, I was wondering if you planned to offer *real* clear lids that you can actually read the screen through. It would be nice to be able to read alarm text or agenda screens without having to even flip up the lid.

That is the idea!

Thats definatly part of the design for OUR lids.
We will be offering a palm III replica that has that EDM finish until those are complete. So hang in there.

Cool! I like it!
I'll keep an eye on www.tactilis.com for more info ... any idea when we'll start seeing anything?
Also, does the clip utilize the slot for those removable covers that come with the Handsprings? I'm curious because I can see where I might want to swap my Visor in and out of my HS case (with that clip thing sewn in) and still leave the flip cover attached.
Okay, I guess that's a little TOO much protection ... but I'm still curious!

Cool More Pictures For Your Questions!

It took me a while to figure out what you were talking about but I think I know now. You're referring to the case like the one shown below that is sold by handspring.

I don't have a digital camera yet, so I used the next best thing. My scanner! ;') I scanned the top and side of my visor with the lid and clip on to prove that I think it will work. Now I'm not sure how the fit will be when the cover of the case is closed on top of it all but this is a good start. (Although it kind of defeats the benefits of the flip-lid/clip combo by taking away your ability to sync and have modules)

Visor on its side with both lids (flip-lid open)

Top of the visor with both lids

Face of the visor with Flip-Clip and Lid combo (just for fun)

...BTW, today I recieved samples of the replica lids and they look great! (that's one on mine above) I'm hoping to have the store up sometime next week. We're just waiting on test results from the server and some paperwork from the state. So pray to see this thing gets out fast!
;')

The more I see and hear about this Flip-Lid, the more I like it. I think it will be a perfect complement to my Handspring Sport Case: additional screen protection and beltability!

sastian...

Thanks for posting those pics. It looks great! You mentioned in an earlier post:

So do I understand you correctly in that your company will be offering the clips AND lids, but if you run out of lids, we can use the same ones that are available for the Palm III series? Also I had asked this in an earlier post in thread, How much will this cost? (Maybe you're not ready to discuss price, but can you give us a Under $? figure?)

TIA,
David

Wink

Yes, we are planning on offering both due to the spotty occurrence of replacement palm III lids in stores. We are currently completing negotiations on the lids pictured above, and hope to be offering them with the release of the Flip-Clip as a substitute until the design and manufacturing of our lids is complete. You could say we are building a much more "visor stylized" lid for the Handspring. The "substitutes" we are considering to offer are an exact reproduction of the palm III lid, so yes all Palm III type lids will work. (including the original ones and lids like the govox)

As far as price goes, as mention before, we're still under negotiations, and unsure of the production costs on our lids, so this will be an estimate. I ideally would like to see a set sell for under $15.

Question

sastian...

I think you have a winning product on your hands! Thanks for the info.

I have two Visor Deluxes--Graphite and Orange, and my Prism should arrive on Tuesday. I've read on VisorCentral that the Prism has a painted surface. From your use of the clip and the lid, do you foresee the clip causing the paint to wear off or contact from the lid opening and closing also causing wear? I would think most users wouldn't be putting the clip on and off, so that would save on wear.

I was also thinking that a dark plastic lid, rather than an ice design, may help provide the shade needed to view the Prism screen outside in daylight.

David

Wink I live on here tonight, huh? ;'P

I agree with you that once this product is in place you wont want to be taking it off any time soon. So I don't foresee a lot of problems in that arena. But if you were to remove it often' I could see wear occurring. If they (Handspring) are painting them in the same manner as the buttons are painted, I say it would take some effort. But you do bring up a good argument against me using the same methods in color matching my parts. There is plenty of rubbings
going on ht the hinge point, but luckily that is all between my parts.

I also think the dark lid on the prism is going to be a big plus. Especially after the reports I've heard about the daytime visibility of the screen. I hope to be able to match the prisms & platinum's accurately on our final version of this product.
