My wife and my one of best friends could care less about my Prism (my wife - computers in general, my friend - handhelds in general), but they are hooked on bubblet.


My sister and her boyfriend bought Visors after trying mine out, best form of advertising for Handspring. I sold my Blue Visor Deluxe to a co-worker after he tried mine, because of that, I could get a Prism..!! A few more people at work are on the fence or just waiting for a good excuse to dump their real Palms for a Handspring unit after taking a test drive on my Visor. All this because I let a few folks try mine out..

My wife uses my Prism occasionally to use the Eye Module 2, but nobody else touches it....

The only person I let use my visor is my soon-to-be wife (she's the one that gave it to me for Christmas, so I figure she should at least get to play with it until I can get her one of her own). All others stay at least beaming distance away

In general, no I don't anyone else use it; I'm pretty protective of my equipment. I let people play a little to check out the apps or features if they're on the market for a PDA. I let my friends play games on it once in awhile, but I use screen protectors, so I don't have to worry too much about scratches. Other people do tend to try to smash my PDA Panache stylus into the slot, though. Duh! Leave it like you found it. I usually give them my Rotring Quattro Data pen to use instead.

Only I use my precious Prism. Bought a VDX for my fiance just so she would leave my Prism alone.

I used to be really anal about letting people play with my visor because the first time i let somoene play with it, they were using handwrite to draw on it. I looked away, and when i looked back they has selected the erase cursor and were making big *scratching* strokes accross the whole screen! I snached it out of her hands and decided that only me will use it from now on. That may change since i just got insurance from pdaslostorstolen.com and im going to get screen protection soon. But as of now, you touch it, i hurt you, you break it, i kill you.

Visor Home Phone

Hi,
I let my son play games on my Visor.
If there could ever be a regular wireless telephone module for the Visor, maybe my wife would pick it up now and then.
This type phone add-on could meet any area usages and needs.
Have the other part of this device (that plugs into the phone line in your house or office) to maybe be a charger, answering machine and cradle stand combine for the Visor. I don't know about the frequency range - maybe 900 Mhz..
Just an idea, what you folks think?

There should be a Springboard module that, when the wrong person picks up the visor, makes a loud "YOU ARE TOO CLOSE TO THE VISOR, PLEASE STEP AWAY FROM THE VISOR" :-)

I'm one of those lucky guys. No one ever asks to use my Visor. They just look at it as if it was a cool "toy". Even still, I probably wouldn't let anyone use it if they asked. Maybe they know that and that's why they don't ask.

BTW, DBrown: Where and to whom should checks be made out to? Also, may I request that you perform option 1 before option 3?

True Story!:Anyone here play Zillionare? Its a game like Millionare on TV but for the Palm OS and it goes up to a Zillion. My friend and I would play it during history class and the teacher found out. For about two weeks he end his lectures 15-30 minuts early just so he could play the game! He also has us watch a lot of movies in that class and he would always ask to play Zillionare while the movie was on, along with this student aid & this girl who is moving soon. Module Conflict of Interest

For an instant I considered having my company purchase one of Margi System's "Presenter to Go" module to use with my VDX. Our company is finally getting into using Powerpoint presentations for client and group meetings (I have had two successive bosses tell me that "we need to get one of those projector thingies" without appreciating that they cost upwards of $5K, not the $400 they were anticipating).

In any event, it occurred to me that the $300 Springboard module for my VDX would be more affordable than a $1500 laptop. If they buy the module the company would want to use my VDX (the only one in the company), which isn't going to happen. Nor are they likely to buy a "company" PDA for fear of setting a precident.

I am toying with the idea of actually buying the module myself and using it for presentations only within my department. Then, when I get layed off (seemingly inevitable),it will be a great way to get back at them...they will need to go out and buy a $1500 laptop to utilize their projector investment (it isn't likely to occur to my colleages that the PDA+Presenter Module is a more affordable solution). And I can then resell the module on E-Bay and recoup at least 2/3 of my investment.

The thought is so cheap...so petty...that it is irrestable to me.

I let people use it, but that is also why I bought screen protectors. If I had a Prism (or an Edge) I don't think I'd let anyone touch it. I figure if it breaks I don't feel bad having HS replace it because I was advertising their product for them.

BTW: I haven't had any problems with people using it yet. Most are very careful once I tell them I paid $250 for it. Also my VisorDlx's B-day is coming up on the 21st, one year old and no replacements!

My Visors have had more contact than Madonna.

From young to old. I have a Prism, and it's still the dazzler, even for the monochrome friends.**
The more you can do (modules esp. Eyemodule2, applications) the more you should expect to demonstrate.

Someone mentioned being overprotective. That sounds just about right. I don't care for others having access to my address book, though I may start using private records. I just don't want anyone fiddling with my PIM. I'm going to make it a habit to check my desktop and handheld records before I sync. I do admit that I sync without looking through my PIM and Hotsync Mgr. Bad Practice. Had I not made mulitple backups I would have lost it all.

**It bothers me that they don't bring their Visors when we go out, so my Visor becomes the "gimmethatlemmeshowhim/her" conversation piece.

...It doesn't bother me that it gets exposure, it's just that my friends can demonstrate their Visors to strangers, and use their own when we're out.

My 7 year old plays games occasionally.
My wife wants her own(she has already set herself up as a user on Palm Desktop and uses it (on the PC)as her scheduler, address book, and memo pad.) She will very infrequently play a game on it.
One of my fellow workers likes Hardball.
That's it. No one else has ever asked to see it, or my first one. (and mine is constantly being used)
It would really depend on the person I guess.

After all, when they callously lay you off, you will not be the one forcing them to blow $1500 on a laptop. Their stupidity will be forcing them.

Not a consideration.

I am simply not a person who shares to begin with. People who want to borrow it are denied. People who want to use it or play games on it (there are none installed) are denied. People who attempt to grab it out of my hands to see what I am working on get their arms broken. Its not nice but my visor is not community property; Those who are not clear on that distinction have non-functioning limbs as reminders.
