Lightbulb New Stowaway features.

As the proud owner of a bran-spankin-new Stowaway, I did what any proper nerd would do: downloaded the SDK and rewrote the drivers.
So, I've got the features of the Think Outside standard drivers in place (thanks mostly to their sample source *grin*). Now comes the fun part: new features.

What new features do we (the Visor community) want? The most obvious things to me are:
1. Some sort of 10-key layout. Say, hit a function key combo, and it flips to numpad mode.
2. Halfkeyboard emulation. Because it's so much fun. :-)
3. Mapping of app shortcuts to -any- key, not just 1-9. (This is -not- a hardware limitation, it's the driver.) Plus, using a different key combo for apps, so it doesn't conflict with shortcuts.
4. Keyboard menu navigation. I'm not sure where to begin with this, but I strongly suspect that it's possible.

Thoughts?

and a good idea. Get it so the right side of the kb is OFF, the driver doesn't recognize those keys. then you can fold the kb in half and hold it in your hand while you type on the other half. do it.

3 and 4 are nearly covered already, download laptophack.

(Grins widely) and you thought we GoType users were stupid because we choose non foldable, smaller keys and have to have larger cases, but now we laugh at you, mere Stowaway users! WE DO have a number pad mode! Hah! Awww, who am I kidding....

I can't program, but I can give you my Visor for dummies book to support it

How about something that lets me play games with the arrow keys?

Drop Down Menu Access

A way via keyboard to: 1)access the drop down menus in any app, then 2)cursor through and select the menu options. I think this is possible currently in some apps, but certainly not all.

How about character mapping to emulate a Dvorak keyboard?

This has already been done. Mzke sure you have the most recent driver (1.5.1), go to Layout, and you can configure the keyboard for the standard English-US, English-US Dvorak, German, and Japanese. Also, you can choose there how the TAB behaves, inserting a tab or moving to the next field.

The current 1.51 driver has a US-Dvorak layout option.

That's a good idea -- can you emulate pressing hw buttons when specific keyboard keys are pressed? (the memo/todo/addr/dbk keyboard buttons don't seem to work in games that are controlled by the actual hw buttons)

Absolutely! that would be great!

better yet would be the ability to navigate menus with the arrow keys. like pressing 'alt' in windows.
