Question Need to update from v1.2?

I have a Deluxe (OS 3.1H3) and just bought the Stowaway. Is there a benefit to updating the driver from v1.2 to something later? I've read here that 1.6 seems to be giving some people trouble, especially those with Dlx's. Would 1.5 add any functionality to the keyboard?
Thanks,
Ken

You probably would not see a difference. I do run V1.5 on my Deluxe and V1.6 on my CLIE. Everything seems fine that way.

You could give V1.5 a try and it should not give you any problems, but I would suggest staying away from V1.6, I had a lot of problems with it on my Deluxe.

Thanks, GSR13, I'll probably just stick with v1.2 as long as it seems to be working well, unless someone knows of an improvement to be had with v1.5.
In the short time (2 days) that I've had the Stowaway, I've noticed that some programs are written to take advantage of the keyboards functions while others aren't. Is this correct? If so, is it worth contacting them to inquire about updates that would be more compatable?
Thanks again,
Ken

Hold it there! I have found a big benefit to 1.5!!!! With 1.2 I found that sometimes in order to get the keyboard to work I would have to disable/enable it. It was a drag. Do you have wordsmith? If not, 1.6 shouldn't be a problem.

Bernie,
Does the fact that I am using OS 3.1 matter? If not, I will likely try at least 1.5 for now. I am not using Wordsmith either.
Thanks,
Ken

I have WordSmith installed on my CLIE and I am using V1.6 of the Stowaway Driver. The only problem I have on this PDA is the DELETE problem. No other problems at all.

On my Visor Deluxe, I installed V1.6 of the driver and I had nothing but problems. The Serial Number entry caused an immediate FatalException at first. Once I got past that I had numerous resets. Plus, anytime I performed a SoftReset I got a FatalException. I then I had to perform a Warm Reset immediately followed by a SoftReset. Not to mention, removing the Deluxe from the Keyboard almost always caused a FatalException.

I finally removed V1.6 and installed V1.5 on my Deluxe. I have had no problems since.

I would readily accept that it could be something else on my Deluxe that dislikes V1.6 and not simply the OS itself.

Feel free to try out V1.5 and V1.6. If you have trouble, it is very simple to delete the driver and install a different version.

After reading your posts, it seems that v1.5 should be the latest version to try with the Dlx w/o causing any problems. Thanks for your input.

Just found this thread...

Just found this thread and thought I would share my comments:

Wordsmith's Newest Version (2.1.4) supposedly gets rid of the 'delete' key problem, and it works as it is supposed to.

As for the Pointer...I use it a lot when taking notes in class...when taking notes, I use bullets a lot. In Driver 1.5, I had to stop typing, and use the stylus to select the bullet checkbox. This was a drag. Now with the pointer, I leave it in the same spot (over the checkbox). Now when I want to use bullets, all I have to do is

Press ctrl-p - Brings up Formatting
Press alt-enter - Selects the Checkbox for Bullets
Press fn-enter - Selects 'ok'

keep typing with bullets!

I use V1.6 of the Stowaway driver and V2.1.4 of WordSmith. The Delete key still does not function properly.

Instead of deleting the character to the left and right, it deletes two characters to the right.

As I understand it, this is not a BlueNomad issue, but a ThinkOutside issue.

You're right

I am experiencing the same problem on my VDX and Stowaway. I just never noticed it before, I usually don't use delete.
