ANyone who has used both please post your experiences. I bought my Visor with the intent f buiying one of these. Eyemodule 1's can be found for under $100 on ebay. Is the Eyemodule 2 worth the additional price?

That depends. The original eyemodule had a very reliable shutter. Snap the picture and there you have it... Presto.
The resolution was not best.

The Eyemodule2 allows greater resolution. You can produce a 640 x 480 image easily with this module. With the original eyemodule you would have to use an image editor to enlarge the shot you took, and with the (blow-up) scaling you lose the quality of the image. I find that the Eyemodule2 may produce blurry shots no matter how still you hold the camera during the process. I must admit; however, that I have not treated my new module as well as I could've. Keep them aimed away from sunlight. It has been left in the glove compartment or a chilly car on more than one occasion. I've also been liberal in letting my colleagues and friends use the module.

Read up on them. I've used both modules extensively. The manufacturer is not seemingly biased or dishonest with what they have to say about their products capabilities and/or limitations. "Smart-keting" as I like to call it.

To answer your question, I believe it is worth the price to 'me' as it exceeded my expectations, and I am a fan of the movie-making. There was a couple of reviews written here on this site as well. One proposes the suggestion of implementing a binocular lens. That's kinda creepy. I imagine it would be interesting at a stadium, but I suppose it'd be for bird watching... of all kinds.

*..The Eyemodule2 is a must have for the Prism. What model do you have?

what a coincidence...I have the Prism.

It was more a matter of which one to get. I know that I want ONE of them and the EM2 makes more sense as it has the larger resolution AND the movie-making capabilities.

I guess I wanted to hear more on the negative side of the EM2. Is there anyone who DOESN'T like it?

Read my response considering the fact that I presently own and have used neither eyemodule (a friend showed me hers once and I thought it was pretty snazzy though).

You want to know negatives of the E2. One thing I've heard is that it doesn't take the picture immediately. You hit the button and have to make sure you hold the camera very still for a few seconds. This may not matter to a photographer but it matters a lot to me. I am considering buying an eyemodule for some robotics projects and research and I want the robot to just grab an image on the fly. Having to stop and hold still to take a picture is absolutely unacceptable to me.

Besides, my robot's vision can have very low resolution (I'll probably downsize the image to 80x60 before running vision algorithms on it), so I don't need the VGA res and I like the idea of spending a third as much on the damn thing.

well, I am most definitely leaning towards to EM2. It takes movies, plus the images are larger. I can see me being able to take pictures, then HS them to my PC for editing. I liek the large format as it will give me room to downsample the images for better quality.

I was considering getting an EM2 until someone posted a link to the Kodak mc3. It's only $30 more than the EM2 AND it can play mp3s. Even though you would have to carry around two devices, I think it is well worth it.

It is the same price as the EM2. A little more if you get the bundled Flash card.

I would go for that in a second as the movies are larger, the images are sharper and it's the same damn price. UI just do't want to carry another device around. That is one of the reasons why I got the Prism in the first place.

Correct! That is eyemodule1. I neglected to mention that I did not clean the lens before shooting. That should explain why my brew is speckled. You normally see those grains when indoors and/or in poor light. I recall sufficient light during that shot.

KC is visiting on Saturday. I'm going to get to the park a bit earlier and see if I can take a shot close up where field meets fan.

I had a look through my company's binoculars. If you're a ball fan, I think you would've really liked a shots of (incl. facial expressions) of pitchers on the mound looking in at the signs while the batters were staying loose, but like I said, I won't be conducting more of those experiments. I don't know if I'll be in the same section.

My EM2 hasn't come back yet. I'd taken a picture of a red carpet with EM1. Heh heh.

The Jays just won again on a Jose Cruz homerun! I hope to capture at least contact, a doubleplay
(a tripleplay if I'm lucky) or a decent catch in the outfield with the film feature.

so would you recommend the EM2? Even with the major difference in price? I personally can't see any reason to buy the EM1 when the EM2 is so much better.

In a word, I'd say yes; however, this is up to you to decide.

Quite honestly due to the time (duration between months, seasons) of these acquisitions, I've taken many more shots with the Eyemodule, and I haven't taken full advantage of the potential of the EM2. With so many opportunities this summer... blue(r) skies...vibrant colours... nice weather.. worthwhile objects and locations, I'm arguably as curious and as anxious you are.

I'd go for evaluating both. You can't go wrong with the resolution and movies... and as Acajigas posted. It's how you use it! Heh heh.
