Sure enough
There is in fact a hack/utility called Macroplay/Macrohack, which I picked up at Palmgear. It does exactly as I described above, recording your screen taps as a macro. And it can be set to run automatically. I have been using it to do this backup function by waking up my Prism in the wee hours and copying files to the module.
But there's a hitch when using it for this purpose. It records your screen taps exactly as you make them (and BTW it ONLY records screen taps - it won't record screen drags or presses of the hard buttons). That means that it records a screen tap at coordinates x,y on the screen. If that specific screen changes between the times you record and run the macro, it will change the result. So, when I reorganized some files recently, thus changing the list in File Mover, the macro began copying different files, because now the checkbox at position x,y was for, say, a DOC file instead of my datebook file.
Don't suppose anyone has any other suggestions?
