Unhappy Prism CAN'T Charge! Help!!

Help folks!

This morning when I woke up, I plugged my Prism into the cradle to Hotsync and to charge... however, after the Sync part, I noticed that the LED light of the Prism was still on, which meant that it detects the battery as Full!
However, using Launcher III's battery meter, the voltage was only 3.69V, far from the 4.00V I got from a full charge.

AFAIK, if the battery does not reach 4.00V and above, the LED will continue to blink, indicating a charge.

Anyhows,
So, I took it out of the cradle and plugged in a USB Sync-&-Charge cable and try to see what is wrong. The same problem occured!

When I got to work, I tried out the different cables, and got the same problem.
I tried a Hard-Reset, and tried charging it again, to NO AVAIL.

I tried cleaning the contacts on my Prism and the USB cables, and even my Prism cradle, but it still doesn't charge!

Today is a public holiday and so is tomorrow. I hope you guys can give me some advice, before I call up Grandtech (Handspring distributor in Asia) to bug them to replace my Prism.

FYI: The Prism is only 2 months old.

Please help.

Regards,
Andre.

Try doing a soft reset while the Prism is in the cradle to reset the charging circuit.

I just had the same problem. My contacts that connect the hotsync connector to te circuitboard were separated, nad I had to get another Prism.

BTW, this is the second Prism that this has happenned to me with. I was 6 months past the warranty, but HS still sent me a refurb overnight because it "was a known issue". I was psyched, cuz they really didn't have to do that. So, my wife gets a "new" Prism, and I got a NR70V.

So, to verify this, I'd open up your Prism and check out the contacts to make sure they are making contact with the circuit board. Two of my contacts had even broken away and were floating around the interior of the Prism! How it didn't short out, I have no idea!

Well, turned out to be no problem

The Grandtech guy showed me that mine had no problem.

Damn. Waste of my time.

How did he show you this? My Prism has been doing this for a while now and I've just ignored it.

Dunno what he did.

Maybe you could try unplugging all the wires out and plugging them in again...

I mean, did he just tell you that everything was fine or did he show you somehow? Are you still getting a replacement?

RE: unplugging wires

Well, he left me in a conference room to wait for a while.... he took the AC adapter with him...

Then 5 minutes later, he's back telling me that it works.
And he took my cradle and plugged the Prism in, and the LED started to blink again!

Either there was something wrong with the AC adapter OR there was something wrong with the Prism....

*shrugs shoulders*

And nope, they didn't give me any replacement... maybe because they aren't Handspring... they are JUST the sole distributor

I actually wanted to complain about Prism paint peeling off at the back. Luckily I've been using mine in a case, so my Prism doesn't look THAT bad, as the others I've seen around.

Cheers,
